•To build an effective team, itis important to make sure thatthe everyone in the team
works towards a “CommonGoal”.
•It is a leader’s responsibility to
link the individual goals of eachteam member with thecommon goal to ensuremotivation and desire to
achieve it.

Defining individual roles•Everyone in the team must knowtheir roles and responsibilities andthere should be no confusionregarding them as this could lead tounnecessary friction amongst team
members.
•Every team member shouldknow that there role in the teamis crucial and is valued by their
boss. They should be able torespect the role of everyone in theteam.
Clear allocation of work reduces the possibilities of intra
team conflict.

Making effective decisions•Decision making involves choosing between alternatives, prioritizing andchoosing the most feasible alternative.Taking everyone’s views andincorporating them in the decisionmade increases its acceptability andthus makes the process of changeeasier.
•The decisions taken should help theteam in their development and should be a clear image of their usefulnessfor guests, employees and the hotel.

Balancing Participation•There should be an equalparticipation of everyone in theteam in every task taken andevery decision made. Theenergy of enthusiastic membersshould be routed in the rightdirections and the shy membersshould be encouraged andmotivated to speak up andparticipate more.
• A leader makes his presence felt best by being encouragingtowards everyone’s participationfrom the team.
