Yarn:

Scheepjes Whirl 215 g.

I used aprox 140 g of a cake 776 Rosewater Cocktail.

Hook: 3,0 mm.

Size:

My shawl is about 160 x 115 x 115 cm in size. It’s very easy to adjust the size of this

shawl with the number of repeats you make.

Abbreviations (US terms):

Ch – chain

Sl st – slip stitch

Sc – Single Crochet

Dc – double crochet

Tr – treble

Inv join – invisible join *

Sp - space (e.g. ch-1 sp)

Tips:

• Stitches between ( ) are repeated as many times as indicated after the parenthesis.

• Stitches between { } are made in the same stitch or chain space.

Row 1:

Ch 5, {1 dc + ch 2 + 1 dc + ch 1 + 1 dc} in the 5th ch

from the hook. Turn.

Row 2:

Ch 4 (= 1 dc + ch 1), 1 dc in the same dc. Ch 2, 1 sc in

next dc. Ch 2.

{1 dc + ch 2 + 1 dc} in the ch-2 sp of the tip.

Ch 2, 1 sc in next dc. Ch 2, {1 dc + ch 1 + 1 dc} in the 3rd

ch in the beginning of previous row. Turn.

Row 3:

Ch 6 (= 1 dc + ch 3), 1 dc in next dc. Ch 3, 1 dc in next

dc. Ch 1.


Ch 1, 1 dc in next dc. Ch 3, 1 dc in next dc, ch 3, 1 dc in

the 3rd ch in the beginning of previous row. Turn.

Row 4:

Ch 4 (= 1 dc + ch 1), 1 dc in the same dc. (ch 2, 1 sc in

next ch-3 sp. Ch 2, 1 dc in next dc) until the second last

dc on the side. Ch 2, 1 sc in next dc. Ch 2.


Ch 2, 1 sc in next dc. (Ch 2, 1 dc in next dc. Ch 2, 1 sc in

next ch-3 sp) until the last ch-3 sp on the side. Ch 2,

{1 dc + ch 1 + 1 dc} in the 3rd ch in the beginning of

previous row. Turn.

Row 5:

Ch 6 (= 1 dc + ch 3), 1 dc in next dc. (Ch 3, 1 dc in next

dc) until the last dc on the side. Ch 1.


Ch 1, 1 dc in next dc. (Ch 3, 1 dc in next dc) until the

second last dc on the side. Ch 3, 1 dc in the 3rd ch in the

beginning of previous row. Turn.

Repeat row 4-5 until the shawl has the size you like. Then you crochet the flowers for the

border.

If you prefer to make a simple picot edge instead of making flowers, there is an

instruction for that on the last page. Don’t cut the yarn if you are making the picot border.

The flower edge:

You crochet the flowers one by one and join them on the shawl when making the last

row.

Flower 1:

Start:

Ch 4, sl st in the 4th ch from the hook.

Row 1:

Ch 1, (1 sc in the ch-ring, ch 3) 5 times. Sl st in the 1st sc

of the row.

Row 2:

Sl st in next ch-3 sp, ch 2, {1 dc + ch 1 + 2 dc} in the same ch-3 sp. Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc.

Ch 1, 2 dc in next ch-3 sp. Sl st in the 3rd ch in the beginning of the last row of the shawl.

2 dc in the same ch-3 sp. (Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, {2 dc + ch 1 + 2 dc} in next ch-3 sp)

3 times. Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, fasten with inv join.

Flower 2:

Start: (as flower 1)


Row 1: (as flower 1)

Ch 1, (1 sc in the ch-ring, ch 3) 5 times. Sl st in the 1st sc of the row.

Row 2:


Ch 1, 2 dc in next ch-3 sp. Sl st in the Ch-1 sp on the left petal of the previous flower. 2 dc

in the same ch-3 sp. (Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, 2 dc in next ch-3 sp. Sl st in the 2nd ch of

the next ch-3 sp on the shawl. 2 dc in the same ch-3 sp) 2 times. Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc.

Ch 1 {2 dc + ch 1 + 2 dc} in the next ch-3 sp. Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, fasten with inv

join.

Continue to repeat flower 2 until the two last ch-3 sp on

the side of the shawl.

Center flower:

Row 2:

Sl st in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, {1 tr + ch 1 + 1 tr} in the same ch-3 sp. Ch 2, 1 sc in next sc.

Ch 2, 2 tr in next ch-3 sp. Sl st in the Ch-1 sp of the left petal of the previous flower. 2 tr in

the same ch-3 sp. Ch 2, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 2, 2 tr in next ch-3 sp. Sl st in the Ch-2 sp of

the tip of the shawl. 2 tr in the same ch-3 sp. (ch 2, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 2, {2 tr + ch 1 +

2 tr} in next ch-3 sp) 2 times. Ch 2, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 2, fasten with inv join.

Continue to repeat flower 2 until the 2 last ch-3 sp on

the side of the shawl.

Row 2:


Ch 1, 2 dc in next ch-3 sp. Sl st in the Ch-1 sp on the left petal of the previous flower. 2 dc

in the same ch-3 sp. Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, 2 dc in next ch-3 sp. Sl st in the last dc on

the side of the shawl. 2 dc in the same ch-3 sp. (Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, {2 dc + ch 1 +

2 dc} in next ch-3 sp) 2 times. Ch 1, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, fasten with inv join.

Picot Edge:

All stitches are made in the front loop only.

Ch 3, sl st in the same dc. (Sl st in next 3 ch, {sl st + ch 3 + sl st} in next dc) until the

second last dc on the side. Sl st in next ch, sl st in next dc.

{Sl st + ch 3 + sl st} in next ch. Ch 5, {Sl st + ch 3 + sl st} in next ch.

Sl st in next dc, sl st in next ch. {Sl st + ch 3 + sl st} in next dc. (Sl st in next 3 ch, {Sl st +

ch 3 + sl st} in next dc, until the second last dc on the side. Sl st in next 3 ch, {Sl st + ch 3

+ sl st} in the 3rd ch in the beginning of previous round.

Fasten your ends and block your shawl.
