EXPERIENCE
SPACE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
Mechanical Design of non-flight Satellite Ground Support Equipment, Tooling Design
and Technical Documentation that supports these design efforts is the backbone of our
company. Working in the capacity as a certified outsource to major aerospace firms, we
have demonstrated that engineering expertise can be purchased as a product rather
than as a service. This product-based approach allows major aerospace companies like
The Boeing Company to concentrate resources in proprietary engineering efforts while
relying on TDG to support the sustaining engineering design requirements. Working in
the closed areas (SSBI) and on non-classified commercial programs, The Terraza
Design Group is committed to building upon our reputation as a solid resource.

EXPERIENCE
Mechanical Design – GSE & Tooling.
Using Pro Engineer and AutoDesk Mechanical Desktop (MDT) our designers develop
concepts from requirements provided to us from Boeing or their customers. Even though
we work primarily offsite, we participate in the design cycle from inception to first use.
We conduct design reviews, produce tolerance studies, provide manufacturing support,
and ultimately, witness the use of our tools on the satellite factory floor. Since these
design efforts are firm fixed price, as opposed to an open ended time and materials
contract, we have demonstrated that engineering expertise can be purchased as a
product rather than as a service. Our participation in classified programs is growing
rapidly as well. Members of our technical staff are working closely with Boeing
employees and their customers in the closed areas (SSBI) at Boeing Facilities.
Technical Documentation
We began our relationship with Boeing writing user manuals for Ground Support
Equipment. This continues to be a major part of our business and its growth has been
substantial. Our team writes 90% of all the GSE user manuals used on the satellite
factory floor. Our experience working directly in high bay coupled with our design
engineering experience has made us especially successful in this vital area. It takes this
caliber of experience to be able to articulate the safe handling of flight hardware through
the entire production cycle. Knowing that this work is traditionally controlled in-house, we
see our participation in this area as a testament to the confidence the Boeing Company
has in us.
Satellite Mock-ups
Even with the bulk of satellite design being accomplished in CAD using solid modeling,
there is still a need for full-scale mock-ups. This is especially true where critical
clearance issues must be resolved with certainty, and complex wire harness must be
fabricated to exacting dimensions. Our participation has helped our client make
significant cost reductions in this area. Based on the figures provided to us as part of the
negotiation process, we have saved the company 71 percent over what our client had
been spending using in house labor.
EXPERIENCE
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT/DESIGN BUILD
The matrix of project delivery methods continues to grow and TDG has made it our
business to provide CM-Advisor, CM-Agent or CM-Constructor level support. Our
experience includes construction management services at universities, elementary &
secondary educational institutions, federal buildings and DOD facilities.
Project Experience – LAUSD Bond BB Program
As a major sub consultant to a Cluster Program Manager, The Terraza Design Group
provided expert technical support personnel to the Bond BB program. The Los Angeles
Unified School District’s (LAUSD) Repair and Construction Bond program is one of the
largest school repair programs of its kind ever accomplished in the United States. This
program included repair and construction activities at over 700 schools in Los Angeles.
Our tasks included the management of the implementation of technology upgrades,
replacement of plumbing, HVAC, electrical and fire alarm systems, interior and exterior
painting, and a limited amount of new school construction. Together with the Cluster
Program Manager, we were responsible for all renovation projects in three of the four
school clusters in LAUSD Maintenance and Operation (M/O) Area Seven (7). These
three clusters contain a total of 100 schools. The projects associated with these clusters
have a construction value in excess of $240 million and will result in the generation of
over 300 construction contracts.

Project Cost: $1,100,000
EXPERIENCE
Project Experience – LBCC – Dryer Assembly Building
Located on the Pacific Coast Campus of Long Beach City College is the newly
constructed William H. Dryer Assembly building. This facility is the largest and most
modern lecture hall on campus. Equipped with state of the art video teleconferencing
equipment and multimedia presentation capability including DVD and Direct Satellite
Broadcasting capability. Working in a joint venture capacity, the Terraza Design Group
acted as the project manager on this 1.1 million dollar renovation.
Project Experience - Military Sealift Afloat Network Operations Center
The Terraza Design Group completed a Design Build project for the Military Sealift Afloat
Network Operations Center (MSC ANOC) located in Building 1 FISC San Diego, CA.
The MSC ANOC is a round the clock operations center supporting Naval operations
around the world. Since this building is one of the oldest in use by Navy we were faced
the daunting task of tracing and replacing the antiquated power grid and providing full
power back up to an existing generator. But the real challenge was to design and install
a new power grid with zero downtime for installation. We completed the system on time
and on budget and made the implementation seamlessly as required. We accomplished
our efforts without a single change order and to the complete satisfaction of the ROICC,
SW DIV NAVFAC, and the Military Sealift Command.
We are particularly proud of the QA/QC program we implemented to verify system test
and performance in these non-interruptible missions. But we went even further to alert
the customer of what we interpreted as a necessary “next step” in guaranteeing system
reliability. This new system is supported by an existing generator that serves as a
backup to several tenants in Building 1. We voiced concerns that a system wide Disaster
Recovery Plan needed to implemented to verify that the existing generator would indeed
perform as intended when called to perform in an actual emergency. Even though it was
out of scope for the project, our QA/QC lead provided to the government a detailed, multi
step plan of what needed to be accomplished to ensure system level performance. Our
customer was very appreciative of our insightful evaluation and has forwarded our
recommendations to Military Sealift Command in Washington
EXPERIENCE
AIRPORT SYSTEMS
Airport IT planning projects have unique operational requirements that are not found in
other Information Technology applications. We understand the impact of airside,
landside, airport administration and their importance as elemental design drivers. We
have performed in-depth analysis of airport subsystems and related interfaces. We have
a working knowledge of the issues airport operators face concerning gate management,
FIDS, and AODB related functions. As a result of research, independent analysis, and
work with airport authorities, we have established a dynamic reference baseline.
We have employed modern system engineering methodology to model a totally
integrated airport. We built this requirements model to define all external and internal
functional interactions, enabling us to perform security evaluation and threat
assessment, establish overall operational policy, and formulate a functional
design/network architecture.
Project Experience – Los Angeles World Airports
We are pleased to include Los Angeles World Airports as one of our clients. We are
engaged in the system integration of the Explosive Detection System (EDS) equipment
screening for LAX. We recently completed work on the LAWA Information Technology
Security Master Plan. Further definition of project scope for these projects is proprietary.
