Battlefield 3
Target Audience: Teenage males, The online Gamer.Platform: PS3, Xbox 360, PC
Battlefield 3 is based in the near future of 2014. It appeals to those who enjoy an action based adventure, but especially those who enjoy an involving online
experience, down to it’s level up system and progression.
Within it’s campaign mode, players immerse themselves in the roles of several military personnel, ranging from a Force Recon Marine to a Tank operator.
Through these characters the game will take you through various locations from Iran to New York either by yourself or co-operatively while tackling various
combined arms battles, which the franchise has become famous for.
Rayman
Target Audience: Young Childern/Family.Platform: Playstation, PSN, PC, GBC, GBA, Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn
Rayman is a 2-D based platformer within a fantasy world. You gain new abilities and powers over the course of the game, from punching goons with your bare fists to flying with your hair, all of which aid you in your quest to save Rayman’s
world.
The story is simple and easy to understand, Rayman’s world is in danger and it is up to him to save the day from the evil Mr. Dark and his wide array of Meany minions.
As Rayman, you journey across his world saving small creatures called “Electoons” Mr Dark has locked them away in cages throughout Rayman’s world, in order to create
instability within the world. Without them, the world is doomed to remain in a state of turmoil.
While Rayman has a fun, light hearted theme, it’s difficulty curve is far from friendly. You can spend hours on end trying to figure out a boss’ weak point or navigating through a tough
platforming section, but while these things can lead to many frustrating deaths, it never takes away from your drive to carry on and rejoice in your soon to come victory, through a couple of
well timed jumps, well aimed punches and just a bit of a patience.
Sims
Target Audience: Family, all ages, the imaginative.Platform: PC, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube
The Sims is a Strategic life-simulation game in which you create your own home. You design your family, you build their house and you make sure you keep them fed and alive.
The games uses a combo of 3D and 2D graphical techniques in order to portray the game, while your Sims are all rendered in 3D, the house and all of it’s objects are displayed dimetrically. This gives off an interesting field of vision
while remaining easy to see what you’re doing.
Gameplay occurs in the games “Live mode”, this is where your Sim’s will go about their day to day lives, although not without more than a fair amount of influence from the player, which ranges from sending them to work and school to paying their bills. While you can leave your Sim’s to their own devices, they are likely to find themselves in an early
grave, which is then permanently marked by a grave stone.. Often in the exact spot where they’re un-influenced existence ended, whether it be in the back garden or the bathroom.
The player can also pause the world of the Sims when they enter “Build mode” or “Buy mode”. These modes are fairly self explanatory, “Build mode” is used to create, as well as decorate the house in which your Sims live, while “Buy
mode” is used to buy the materials used in “Build mode”.
These modes are funded by the money your Sims make through your influence. It is down to you to find them work and then send them there. Without you, these little guys wouldn’t stand a chance.
