School Opinion Surveys:
The suite of School Opinion Surveys is undertaken each year by the Department of Education to obtain opinion infor-
mation from all families, school staff and a random sample of students. The surveys will help our school to find out
what we are doing well, and how we can improve.
This year’s School Opinion Survey will be conducted from 29 July to 23 August 2019. Links to the surveys are available
on the School Opinion Survey website.
All families will have the opportunity to complete the Parent/Caregiver Survey. Survey access details will be sent home
to every family in the school. The survey is anonymous, and the results are not reported in ways that an individual ’s
response can be identified by the school.
Parents/Caregivers are encouraged to complete the survey online. The survey can be completed via computers, tablets
or smart phones with internet connection.
For Parent/Caregivers that do not have access to the internet school computers/tablets will be available at any time
suitable to you as a parent. Please contact the office if you wish to complete a survey confidentially. Alternatively
Parent/Caregivers can complete the survey over the phone by calling the Survey team on 1800 067 971 and providing
the access codes from their invitation letter.
It’s important that as many parents/caregivers as possible complete the survey, so we would appreciate if members of
this committee would raise awareness of this survey with other parents/caregivers.
Survey queries or requests for translations can be directed to our school contact Kerry Russell on telephone 07
46217333 or email [email protected] .
School Behaviour Focus:
Throughout the year, teachers will be focussing on specific behaviours in their classrooms in relation to our “Be” rules.
This week’s focus is “Be An Active Learner.” Students are asked to help others be active learners by walking quietly and orderly so that others are not disturbed.
Weekly Attendance Rate:
The weekly attendance rate for Week 3 Term 3 was 87.5%. Thank you to all parents that have ensured that their chil-dren are attending as many days as possible.
I would like to remind parents that every school day is important.
Parents you must notify the school of the reason for your child’s absence. If the school is not notified, we are re-quired by legislation to telephone you. If your child is going to have a prolonged absence, you need to contact the school regarding this.
Regional Sport Continued:
Continuing our update from last week, Sophie Beetson was awarded three player of the matches by the opposition teams and most improved player from the South West Team Coaches. Once again well done to Sophie and Kobe on a great effort.
School Priorities:
Our sign advertises that the school has a number of priorities that it strives to keep at the forefront t of your child’s education. These include literacy, numeracy and working memory. To achieve these priorities we have to work on the main factor that under-pins learning in many arenas –READING.
Our main priority is READING!

Queensland Ready Reading The Ready Reading program invites parents and community members to make a difference in their local community by volunteering in schools to support children’s reading.
Reading is a powerful tool to help children grow their vocabulary, language skills and imagi-nation. It helps them to develop life-long skills that will support their future growth and learning.
The Department of Education’s Reading Centre and Volunteering Queensland are working together to help improve literacy for children in Queensland by training up to 3000 volun-teers to share their knowledge and time to foster a love of reading.
Register your interest to become a Ready Reading volunteer.
