The First cell phone

The first cell phone was made in April 1973. AT&T's research arm, Bell Laboratories, introduced the

idea of cellular communications in 1947. While he was a project manager at Motorola in 1973,

Cooper set up a base station in New York with the first working prototype of a cellular telephone.

In 1973 when the company installed the base station to show the first demonstration of the cellular phone. Though on the way there cooper tried to call them to see if it worked and it did.

surprising facts Pediatrics shows that children are more

distracted while crossing the street if they happen to be talking on the phone

94.5 percent of the phones tested 19/20 contained some type of bacteria

Did you know you should wipe off your cell phones at least once a day to take off all the germs.

Also listening to a conversation reduces the amount of brain activity devoted to driving by 37 percent

Radiation from a cell phone also negatively affects our listening

surprising facts continued80 percent of drivers admit to having

had a cell phone conversation while driving, according to a may 2008 nationwide insurance poll

Using a virtual reality setting/ researchers studied 77 children of ages 10&11 to see what effect cell phones conversations had for them to cross the street/ for them to look left and right went down to about 20% them amount to get hit went up to about 43%

How the phone was improved We have phones that will allow people to have

complete internet access.

Video features, still shot camera.

"Speaker phone, free voicemail.

Bluetooth technology.

Complete access to one or several e-mail accounts.

Video players, we also have mp3 players.

Picture of first cell phone

This is a picture of the first cell phone.

As you see the first phone was big and a lot bigger than phones nowadays.

Pictures of how they were improved This is a picture of how

cell phones improved over times into different ones. A key feature of the cellular network is that it enables seamless telephone calls even when the user is moving around wide areas via a process known as handoff or handover.

Martin cooper

Cooper grew up in Chicago and got a degree in electrical engineering at a Institute of Technology. After four years from being in the navy, he work a year at a telecommunications company.

Hired by Motorola in 1954, Mr. Cooper worked on developing portable products, including the first portable handheld police radios, made for the Chicago police department in 1967. He then led Motorola's cellular research.

Martin Cooper's role in conceiving and developing the first portable cellular phone directly impacted his choice to found and lead ArrayComm, a wireless technology and systems company founded in 1993.

Key events

The basic concept of cellular phones began in 1947, when researchers looked at crude mobile (car) phones and realized that by using small cells (range of service area) with frequency reuse they could increase the traffic capacity of mobile phones substantially.

In 1947, AT&T proposed that the FCC allocate a large number of radio-spectrum frequencies so that widespread mobile telephone service would become feasible and AT&T would have a incentive to research the new technology.

The FCC reconsidered its position in 1968, stating "if the technology to build a better mobile service works, we will increase the frequencies allocation, freeing the airwaves for more mobile phones."

What I learned

What I learned is martin cooper is the inventor of the first phone. Also that it had its first demonstration in new york city. I then found out that before martin cooper made the first phone he was in the navy for 3 years.
