Answer # 3
A rally
is when you and your opponent get into a rhythm so that you are returning the ball
back and forth consecutively.
Answer # 4
In order to determine the serving team, players may toss a coin
OR
rally the ball until a fault is made.
** Winner of the toss or rally
has the option of serving first
or receiving first. **
Answer # 5
When serving in pickleball,
your dominant foot
should be behind
the back yellow line
and your non-dominant foot
should be in front of the back yellow line.
Question # 7
When serving in pickleball, do you volley the ball out of the air OR do you let it bounce first?
Question # 8
When serving in pickleball, you must aim for a certain area. In what direction do we serve in pickleball?
Answer # 10
A let in pickleball occurs when serving.
You serve the ball over the net, it hits the net on its way over, but lands in the
appropriate court.
If a let occurs, the server is permitted to redo the serve.
Answer # 13
• Hitting the ball out of bounds . . .
• Not adhering to the double bounce rule…
• The ball does not clear the net…
• Hitting the ceiling or anything attached to the ceiling with the ball…
• Volleying the ball in the non-volley zone.
Answer # 15
• After YOU FAULT, YOU LOSE the serve.
• It is then your PARTNER’S turn to serve from their side of the court (left side).
• After your partner faults and loses the serve, the serve goes to the OPPONENT on the
RIGHT side of their court.
• After they fault and lose the serve, the serve goes to THEIR PARTNER, etc., etc.
Answer # 16
After the serve, the receiving team must let the ball bounce before returning the ball.
The serving team must then let the ball bounce before returning the ball.
After 2 bounces, 1 on each side,
you may either volley the ball or
hit the ball off of the bounce.
Answer # 17
• There is a non-volley zone on both sides of the net.
• The non-volley zone is marked by the white inner line to the net on your side.
In this zone, you are not allowed to volley the ball (hit the ball out of the air). If the ball lands in this zone, you must let the ball bounce before returning it over the net.

We are now going to compare and contrast the games of Table Tennis
and Pickleball.
Table Tennis v. Pickleball
Change server after
5th serve.
Allowed ONE fault then your partner serves. After your partner
faults the serve goes to the other team.
Table Tennis v. Pickleball
• A let is when the serve hits the net and lands in the appropriate court.
• Same as Table Tennis.• Redo the serve.
Table Tennis v. Pickleball
• FAULTS ARE THE SAME FOR BOTH
• Ball goes out of bounds
• Not clearing the net• Hitting the ceiling
Table Tennis v. Pickleball
• Must stand behind table or imaginary extension of table on serve.
• Must have at least one foot behind yellow back line.
Table Tennis v. Pickleball
• An effective strategy for both Table Tennis and Pickleball is hitting the ball close to the net without touching it. This gives your opponent minimal time to react and return the ball.
