Switch understands that a home should have the potential to

we consider to be living – that is, able to evolve and adapt to your

Switch ensures you can change rooms easily to accommodate

whatever functions and uses your family organically assign to each

room. For example, many of our master wings feature an adjoined

room that can be used as a nursery, toddler bedroom, study or

private retreat depending on the various stages of your life. Other

designs have an activity room that can be easily switched into a

kids’ lounge, game zone or guest room.

Switch Homes are designed as spaces for you and your family to live,

change and grow.

We understand that your family is constantly evolving, so we aim to

incorporate adaptability and flexibility into your home design. Switch

rooms can be easily converted into bedrooms and living spaces to

suit the different life stages of members of your family.

We also recognise that homes should be about bringing people

together in positive ways. Switch kitchens are central to the living

areas so that you are not away from the action when you’re working

in the kitchen. Switch grouped living areas such as lounge rooms, IT

nooks, home theatres, living rooms and alfresco, are connected and

integrated in creative ways so that everyone is together; but you can

still find private corners and quiet spaces for different activities.

Switch is passionate about making household work as easy and

convenient as possible through smart home design. We nestle

utility areas close together so you can step straight into the

laundry from the kitchen. Switch ensures the kitchen is readily

accessible from the garage, using internal garage entries and

short, unbroken lines between these spaces whenever possible

so packing and unpacking the family car is easy. We also include

sculleries when the design permits to give you extra kitchen

workspace and storage, to make your kitchen look clean and

stylish, and to allow you to cater and entertain.

We also believe that a home should be able to stand up to normal

family use. Our shower reassesses feature 2 metre high tiling to

the walls and fully sealed surfaces to window recesses to keep the

bathroom waterproof and prevent plaster and paint damage due to

steam and moisture.

All drawers are fitted with soft closers. Kitchens feature easy-

clean splashback materials. Another benefit unique to Switch is

the inclusion of high quality appliances with excellent warranty

periods. In essence, Switch builds in features that will protect

your home from becoming degraded or run down.

The process of selecting your new home begins with our

experienced and highly trained New Home Consultants. Our

consultants will provide helpful advice on the selection of a design

to suit your block and family. Your New Home Consultant will also

advise you on possible variations to the design, finishes

and materials.

Switch homes are intelligently designed with a focus on natural

flow. We design our homes to have wide open spaces in shared

living areas to avoid congestion, and incorporates extended bench

space in kitchens and bathrooms to allow more than one person to

occupy these rooms comfortably at any one time.

We build homes that provide seamless flow between indoor and

outdoor entertaining areas to enhance the family’s enjoyment of

social spaces in the home.

You can be assured that this attention to design detail and focus on

living will give you a superior design to start with. Any changes you

choose will then simply make it your own.

Once you have selected a home design, Switch conducts a contour

survey and a soil analysis so we know everything about your site

prior to finalising the plans. Your dedicated Switch team

member will keep you fully informed during the entire planning

and documentation process and we will always welcome any

Switch’s complete décor service gives you access

to a professional interior designer, who will assist you

in the interior décor and colour selections of

your new home. Our tailored service will help

you create a living space that complements your

preferences and lifestyle, even taking energy-saving

needs into account.

Next, we will arrange your Switch Select meeting with

a Switch Selections Consultant who will help you with

your interior selections, providing valuable advice

including fittings and fixtures in your home. Here we

finalise all plans and interior selections with you.

Switch has strong relationships with décor and

materials suppliers through its partner company,

Pindan, so you can be confident you have access

to a particularly large range of quality finishes and

products to enhance your home. Our knowledgeable

Interior Designers and Selections Consultants will

ensure that your selection experience is an enjoyable

and satisfying one.

Switch Select

Switch Construct

Switch only uses the best tradespeople and construction

materials. Most home builders use contractors, but the

majority of our suppliers and tradespeople have existing

long term relationships with, or are employed directly by,

our parent company, Pindan. This means we have total

control over the building process. We also incorporate

best practices into our building methods so your home is

as resistant as possible to the degrading effects of time,

constant use and weather. We want you to be able to enjoy

your home for a long time and for the home to retain

maximum resale value.

1. The Earthworks and Slab

This stage commences with the clearing and preparation

of the site. The first significant milestone in the building

process is the pouring of the footings and slab, which are

designed on an individual basis for each home and site.

During this process a termite protection system and drains

are also installed. After the slab has cured, the building

materials arrive and we start building your home.

2. Brickwork and Roofing

As the walls start to go up you will begin to appreciate the

form of your home. Switch uses clay bricks for both internal

and external walls – cheaper lime silica or aerated concrete

blocks are not used by Switch.

Once brickwork is complete, the carpenters start work

on the roof construction. When the frames are in place,

plumbing and electrical experts will install the necessary

pipes and cables into the walls. We also put the guttering

and downpipes onto the building. Finally the roof tiles or

colorbond roofing goes on.

3. Preparing for Lockup

Now that the roof is up and the home is weatherproof, we

can start the plastering and ceiling work. Before coating the

walls with white plaster, the plasterer applies a sand render

to the internal surface of the bricks. Protective corner beads

are built into plastered walls in trafficable areas to protect

your home from the wear and tear of everyday living.

When the plastering is finished, a glazier installs the window

glass and the external doors are attached – now your Switch

home can be locked up in preparation for internal finishing.

4. Finishing off the Inside

The next phase of building involves installing the internal

doors and constructing the internal cabinetry including

cupboards, shelves, benches and drawers. Our cabinetry is

hand manufactured and features quality adjustable soft-

closing mechanisms on the drawers and doors of most

home designs.

Our comprehensive waterproofing process is applied to the

shower and bath recesses and the tilers put your chosen

ceramics in place. Switch shower recesses all include 2m

high tiling. To avoid possible moisture problems we seal the

bottom of doors in all wet areas prior to the painting and

fixing of doors.

We also complete the wall tiling in the kitchen and laundry

at this stage.

Once all the tiling and cabinetry is complete, Switch

organises for the plumber and electrician to complete

their ‘final fit-off.’ This means they install light fixtures and

fittings, appliances for the kitchen (such as the oven and

coffee machine), and plumbing fixtures such as tap ware.

Finally, we install shower screens and mirrors.

Lastly, the painter paints all of the ceilings, walls, doors

and other requested fittings, as well as external painting to

gutters, fascia and downpipes.

5. Finishing off the OutsideYour house is all but complete. Switch now arranges for the

external works to be completed. Brick paving, landscaping,

fencing, reticulation, garage floors and doors and anything

else you have requested will now be finalised according to

your selections.

6. HandoverPrior to handing over the keys to your new home, Switch will

organise a full site clean. The inside of your new home will

be professionally cleaned, all building debris and materials

will be removed from the site.

Then the site supervisor will arrange to meet you at your new

home to inspect it thoroughly before you take possession.

Then you will be presented with the keys, warranties and all

information about the house – and you can move into your

wonderful new home.
