  • Eliminate lost motion due to mechanical wear and to prevent inadvertent opening of the indication contacts under extreme vibration.

The M-3 and M-23 with ECC are the next generation Style M switch machines from Ansaldo STS. These units utilize the basic Ansaldo STS Style M machine drive-train designs, which have been proven to provide years of reliable service. The advanced feature of these machines is the replacement of the traditional mechanical circuit controller with a rugged solid state device, the ECC. The M-3 and M-23 solid state ECC incorporates simple, modular components that require a low degree of maintenance. The ECC is a drop-in replacement for the mechanical circuit controller in all Ansaldo STS Style M switch machines. With a true linear detection device and no moving mechanical parts to maintain, the ECC circuit-controller suffers no sensitivity degradation due to component wear.

The ECC utilizes inductive proximity sensors to continuously monitor switch machine conditions. It vitally monitors the position of the switch points and the internal locking mechanism, delivering vital switch machine indications to the wayside. The ECCs advanced

diagnostics system analyzes both local machine status and adjacent switch machine indication circuitry.

The ECC can also be equipped with non-vital auxiliary point detection sensors that monitor the switch point position to a tighter tolerance, reporting advanced notice to maintenance personnel of marginal switch machine operation for preventative maintenance.

The Style M ECC machines use the same base castings, making mounting and layout connections.

    Features

All switch machines meet or exceed all applicable AREMA standards

LED diagnostics provide state of local and adjacent switch machine

Electronic latch-out feature can be congured for manual, automatic, or disable

    Local/remote switch control capability

Style M switch machines have 90 years of eld-proven reliability

STYLE M SWITCH MACHINE WITH ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT CONTROLLER (ECC)

  • Benefits

No mechanical moving circuit-controller parts to wear or maintain

LED diagnostics lead maintenance personnel directly to a problem without the use of a multi-meter or similar device

ECC can detect all possible states of proximity sensors: on, off, shorted, open, or indeterminate

Simple set-up and adjustment of point-detection system reduces adjustment time

Provides advance notice of point drift reducing operational costs associated with train delays from switch machine
