Preamble:

Emerging trends in technical and professional education call for value addition i.e.

students must acquire something more than what is provided in the curriculum.

Seismic changes in economy under the impact of globalization and technological

advancement have changed the form and content of education in India. Realizing the

urgency of enhancing the skill-sets of our students, SSCCM has been offering Value

Added Programmes (Optional) along with B.Com. Degree. The demands of the

employment market today require that students come industry-ready, possess

multiple skill-sets, and be prepared to take on the onus of leading projects. We at

SSCCM have always aimed transforming our students into capable and responsible

individuals. Hence, SSCCM will be offering VAP with practical utility. The VAP

modules has been specially designed by team of experts from the industry and

academia. Certificate shall be issued by the College itself after successful

completion of the respective programme.

Rules & Regulations:

� Courses are offered only for the students of B.Com. programme currently and will be

offered later on for the B.C.A. and B.B.A. Programme.

� Students has to undergone for the prescribed VAP in each semester.

� Duration for each course will be of 30 hours plus hands on training.

� Sessions will be conducted as per the time table.

� 80% attendance in the course is mandatory.

� Certificate will be issued after the successful completion of the course.

� Application forms and information booklet are also available at the help desk of the

college at the beginning of the academic year/semester as the case may be.

� Selection Procedure: Admission are based on the marks secured in the qualifying

degree. Preference will be given to the students who are already studying in the English

medium.

� Saturdays and Sundays may be utilized at the discretion of the concerned College.

Module-I:

Spoken English Preamble:

As a language with global usage English in today’s world has become the lingua

franca of the international community. From education to job opportunities

knowledge of English has become a key criterion to determine suitable candidates.

Thus, form growth to career opportunities are all seen governed by the proficiency

and knowledge in application and usage of the language. However, most of the

people in spite of knowing the language are seen lacking in the spoken or

vocabulary part. This act as a big hindrance for them in life as they are seen rejected

even after possessing the desired skills or eligibility for any respective opportunity.

Our VAP module on Spoken English weeds away this disadvantage of students and

turns their weakness into well-crafted skill. Students are taught about the basic nitty-

gritty to the practical usage of the language in terms of speaking during the duration

of their course. The basic aim of the course is to make a novice turned into an amid

speaker and user of the language.

Thus, through the design of its course structure and design of the syllabus, the

course aims at enriching the learning experience of the candidates so much so that

they can make the use of the language in a near perfect sense.

Objectives:

� To frame grammatically correct sentences in English.

� To make shift in pedagogy from lectures-oriented classes to interactive learning.

� To familiarize students with the function of grammatical items used to

spoken/written language.

� To train students to use the language with confidence & without committing errors

Preamble:

Students will gain basic hands-on experience using the integrated programs of

Microsoft Office 2010. This course is designed to use the basic features of Word,

Excel, Access, and PowerPoint and to integrate data between the applications. Ms.

Office course trains students how to use MS Office applications use in office work

such as creating professional-quality documents store, organize and analyze

information; arithmetic operations and functions and create dynamic slide

presentations with animation, narration, images, and much more, digitally and

effectively.

� To give students an in-depth understanding of why computers are essential

components in business, education and society.

� To introduce the fundamentals of computing devices and reinforce computer

Event Management is the coordination, running, and planning of all the people,

teams and features that come together to create every kind of event. Event

Management students are trained in areas like analyzing, planning, marketing,

producing and evaluating an event. The world of event management has changed

tremendously in the last few years, especially as newer technologies are making

their way to make things better. Different kinds of events software help to make the

event run smoothly, and if an event manager uses technology prudently, he can gain

an edge over his competitors. But, in addition to that, an event manager needs to

Public Speaking Preamble:

This course prepares students for a variety of academic and other situations in which

formal presentations are required. Topics will include cultural conventions and

speech, perceptions of others, verbal and nonverbal messages, and techniques of

oral presentation and persuasion. Students will learn how to research, outline, and

deliver short, informal presentations as well as longer speeches.

This course will provide the SSCCMians the opportunity to develop and strengthen

skills in preparing and presenting public oral presentations in a variety of situations. It

can also sharpen their skills in critical listening. While theoretical foundations for the

methods taught can be included, this is a practice-oriented course. Speaking clearly

and comfortably in public is a valuable and often essential skill to possess. This

course aims to provide students with a basic background in the theories and

principles of public speaking, as well as practical experience with the basic types of

speeches. Although some of students might find the emphasis on performance

frightening or frustrating, the rewards for acquiring public speaking skills are many.

� To become aware of personal speech habits and characteristics.

� To improve posture, voice, diction and other mechanics of speech.

After passing out from class 12, students have to decide for their further course of
