Unit PO2 - Task P4Organising DigitalWorkspace

Window PositioningThis allows me to create/ manage several documents at once, whilst also giving me an open workspace, that I can move freely and move quickly between open files.

Images can also be moved around so multiple file views can be seen at the same time.

Window Navigation Whilst you have multiple tabs open, a user can use the double arrow in the top right of the screen to select a different file.

The user can also view the history tab which allows the user to undo several actions at once and return to a specific point.

Layers also allow for control on what is being seen in a specific file

M3 Task ~ Advantages of Digital Art

Digital art programs like Photoshop gives the user access to Digital Color Palettes. This gives quick access to the full range of the color spectrum in highlights, midtones and shadows. Users also cannot make a mess as there are no real paints. In addition to this users can quickly and easily change colors and less physically intensive.

This changes from traditional art as it is harder to change colors and create similar versions of chosen colors. In addition to this, the space required for digital art is minimal, whereas traditional artists have to dedicate a lot of storage space for all their equipment.

Photoshop can also give the user access to a large variety of brush types that also can be customized to the users choice. This removes the continual cost of upkeep to maintain and update brushes as they are no longer ‘physically’ required. A graphics tablet can also be used alongside photoshop to create realistic brush strokes and make the artist more comfortable from changing from traditional. The lack of need of a physical brush further decreases the space needed to store them.

Finally, photoshop comes equipped with a ‘History tab’ this function allows the artist to retread their steps after a mistake. This reduces the change of a piece being completely scrapped, and yet it also creates a streamlined process to restart the entire thing. Traditional art tends to be harder to correct in the aspect of an mistake, and it requires more available resources to correct the mistake if it can be corrected.

TEXT TOOL

The text tool was used often in my UI designs - the text tool was used to add typography to the UIs, to give detail to what each button does. The text was used to create the main menu text, and the text for each button. All the text used either the “BAD SIGNAL” font from Dafont or the default “Arial” font, with a gradient layer style for headings.

GRADIENT TOOL

The gradient tool was used often in my UI designs - the gradient tool was used to add nice colours to the text on the UIs, to give detail to the buttons.

The gradient tool was used to create the heading text’s fill.

STROKE EFFECT

The stroke effect was used often in my UI designs - the stroke effect was used to draw the user’s eyes to the text on the UIs, to give detail to the buttons.

Task P7 ~ Visual CommunicationConcept Art AnalysisComposition- Image contains four armored figures

using various weapons. Rock surrounds the figures aside from the cloudy blue sky. The rubble being kicked up from underneath the central figure suggests its weight.

Perspective- Close up to the four characters giving perspective on each while also obscuring the threat they are engaging. The blur also suggest the speed of the sign being fast.

Proportion- Putting the large figure in the foreground allows the other figures to be the same size suggesting they are somewhat unified.

Digital Techniques- Use of blur and digital color palettes creates a combat scene. Possible use of lighting tools to create a realistic environment Early Javelin Concept

Art ~ Anthem

Task P7 ~ Visual CommunicationConcept Art AnalysisComposition- Large corridor containing alien

architecture. Use of earthly colours, suggesting age. Image also contains alien figures emerging from a large breach.

Perspective- The regular perspective does not draw attention to any specific area. However the eerie light draws the eye to the hole and the figures there.

Proportion- The image contains large pieces of architecture that dwarves the size of the figures creating a sense of scale.

Digital Techniques- Possible use of lighting in the center, hue and saturation have been edited to create a large, dusty and sark corridor
