Window positioning

As visible on screenshots photoshop has an option to store your pictures as tabs which you can easily scroll through and come back to your potential artwork or drawing. Also you can drag the tab out of the tab area to open it as a window which might be very helpful while drawing something from reference pictures or you just styling your drawing off something. Also you can easily resize your windows with pictures and zoom in on these as you wish.

Unit 4 PO2 - P4Window Navigation

In Photoshop if you run out of space for your tabs you can easily find any of your lost tabs by clicking your double arrow button right on the end of the work

screen .

Also you can easily reverse any action by history option right below your tabs .if you need to come back to the beginning of your work then you can do that by pressing your history option

Unit 4 PO2 - P4Essential Palettes for Concept Art

In photoshop you have variety of tools and options on the side of the screen, usually on left and right on the top of the screen you have brush tool settings with huge library of brushes and options like size, opacity, spacing, shape, and much more

Colour selection

It's easily accessible by left clicking the colour swatch on the tool selection bar. Here you can pick a colour by dragging the white circle on the huge coloured area or you can manually enter the red, blue, and green value or if you have your favourite colour and you know the code/name of it you can type it down in # area

Unit 4 PO2 - P4Document Set Up

In document set up window you can choose how big your canvas needs to be and if you want to count it in centimeters or inches

Also you can change the orientation of your canvas from landscape to portrait or change the colours

Unit 4 PO2 - P5 Twelve basic tools

Selection tool and Move tool

Selection tool selects area of an image, you select it by clicking on the image to select the first corner of the box and by dragging it you select the other corner of the box

Move tool is for moving objects around your picture and placing or deleting them. Its especially helpful when you’re working with picture that contains parts which are transparent so it won’t make visible mistakes and you can easily delete those parts without consequences.

Unit 4 PO2 - P5 Twelve basic tools

Lasso tool and Quick selection or “magic wand” tool

Lasso tool is just like a normal selection tool but you can draw your selection freely and anywhere you want but if you won’t connect photoshop will connect them by the shortest way which might not be an effect you really want

The “magic wand” tool is selecting areas that looks similar in colour also it highlights spaces that are connected even if they are in different colour. Like if you want to highlight only one object the Quick selection is perfect for that

Unit 4 PO2 - P5 Twelve basic tools

Cropp tool and Dripper tool

Crop tool is as the name says, for cropping your image or drawing you can also rotate your image or crop selection

Dripper tool is for copying the colour straight from the image and saving it as your brush colour. this is very helpful if you’re referencing from image and color schemes so you can be very precise with this tool

Unit 4 PO2 - P5 Twelve basic tools

Eraser tool and Gradient tool

Eraser tool is simply an eraser but it will erase everything below it if its not on different layer

Gradient tool might not be very helpful at this stage of working with photoshop but it might be interesting addition to your work as separate layer or just background

Blur tool and Rectangle tool

The blur tool might be very useful but also might be not. Blur tool works just like brush which you can paint on your picture with.it slightly blurs out anything but it takes time to make it very visible you can also blur out selection if you selected some area on you picture

Rectangle tool is adding any shape not only rectangles to your work. You can make it in colour by selecting your desired colour or you can change things like frame colour and size.

Paint brush and stamp tool

Stamp tool is probably the most useful tool in my opinion. Other softwares might not have that function which makes photoshop unique. To use stamp tool firstly you need to select area you want to copy over (stamp) by pressing alt on your keyboard.

Paint brush is also one of the most useful tools but almost every software contains it. With paint brush you can paint over your pictures and variety of brushes makes it very easy and comfortable which highlights photoshop’s quality

Unit 4 PO2 - M3 Advantages of Digital Painting Toolset

Huge selection of tools in one space

The huge selection of tool in one place is very handy unlike in traditional art tools don’t require a lot of space on your working area. Everything is tidy and ready for use in traditional art you need to prepare everything before you use and clean up after.

No smell. No mess. No cleaning You cannot make any mess with digital tools or anything. Which means no clean up no mess it’s very simple just start drawing or

You can easily reverse any mistake you make Because of history tab if you are not satisfied with quality of your work you can always go back even to the beginning of the work

Cost of some softwares may be high or not.Depends on software you want to use but even the most pricey ones are more valuable than buying constant refills or materials themselves. Even subscriptional softwares may be more valuable in price than materials themselves

I had a little problem with my inventory creating it and then making it digital. I thought of making like old map look for a main part of it and then strong colors but still fitting to the colours of old paper.even if paper effect looks quite realistic i left the border so it will look cartoony the tools i used are mostly select tool to pick out any unwanted colouring getting out of borders and basic paintbrush tool.

Those are my two bars i designed for my game. One with a heart in it (health bar) and one just as a Basic bar (probably for stamina) i chose black colours to make them pop out with red bar on them to create them i used smart selector and pick out only parts i wanted to be visible and then filled area with black colour. For basic bar i needed to cut out a hole so the bar inside would be visible. I chose black because it compliments with red very well

Here we can see a picture from a bird’s view on a very complicated structure. Colours are mostly dark and dim and there’s lack of warm colours as well. Dominant colours are grey, green and black. There are some light points on this picture to balance out all this darkness. Little details shows off how huge the building is and how much space it takes in this area. Little waterfalls and trees shows clearly that the building is enormous and prety old as walls are as well covered in green flora.

This picture is very light with its dominant colour of blue and white with some details highlighted in red and orange. This technique make highlighted parts pop out and be center of attention to the person looking on this picture. The view is from 3rd person view as we are standing right behind our hero of the story.Borders of every object is smooth and does not fight over attention. Everything is showed clear and nothing is cramped together .

P7 Task Concept Art AnalysisComposition

● Models low on poly, Bright colours in background ,Quite still scenery, clam.

● Red enemies and bullets contrasting with a background to show off danger and things you should watch out for

Perspective

● The perspective is from first person showing off that you have control

Proportions

● Proportions are realistic but low on pollys adding a character to the game

Digital techniques

● Sharp contrasting colours. No bleeding just sharp edges, everything in bright colours or vibrant ones to make you focus on the coming danger and your goals

Page 18: Survival project - bartoszmalinowski.files.wordpress.com › 2019 › ... · Survival project Bartosz Malinowski. Unit 4 PO2 - P4 Concept Art Organising digital workspace Window positioning

Composition

● People entering some dark place, only source of light is a torch held by one of four people. Some monster tries to attack from all sides with its tentacles they seem to be trapped and there's no way back. The colour pallete says a lot about setting. Dark violet tones surrounding all these people and only warmth and light is from an orange torch

Perspective

● Perspective is a little angled and right next to the monster but still hiding its identity. Even if everything is clustered by sharp black outline the picture seems to be clear and pretty dynamic

Proportions

● Everything seems to be realistic except the monster waiting for them, also the weapon held by the first person seems to be quite big which logically it would be heavy as well.

Digital techniques

● Dark surrounding and a little bit of blend in colours to add realism to the setting, sharp aggressive outline also in dark colour to fuse with background
