DORMA’s intranet is the vehicle for driving innovation throughout the business, and DORMA’s internal International Group Conference and the trade fair BAU are the platforms through which DORMA launches new innovative products. With the latest conference and trade fair on the horizon, and a view to make a big positive impact on how the company continues to innovate into the future, DORMA decided they wanted a brand new social intranet solution. This new solution was to enable “Access to Innovation” for all DORMA employees around the globe, using cutting edge technology to facilitate their work. This would allow DORMA to capitalize on its internal knowledge and support greater collaboration across their global business, by revolutionising the way their staff communicated and connected with each other and the wider business. PERSONALIZED EXPERIENCES AND TARGETED CONTENT

DORMA’s intranet delivers personalized intranet experiences to all users. The dynamic smart feed on the intranet homepage surfaces content from news and insights as well as apps and company announcements, populating a targeted digest of information specific to the user. Users can manage the content targeted at them by tagging their profile with subject matter and location terms from the corporate taxonomy used to tag all content.

MULTI-LINGUAL TRANSLATION

A key feature of DORMA’s intranet was multi lingual functionality. Users can set their primary language changing all the intranet’s key navigation terms. The integration of Bing translation then enables quick and cost-effective one click translation of content in the intranet making it useful globally, regardless of the language it has been uploaded in.

SEARCH

SharePoint search has been integrated across the site making finding information easier than ever before. Search boxes also feature predictive responses and there is also a global search center which presents results from across the entire intranet and across all content types.

APP LAUNCHER

DORMA’s intranet supports quick and easy integration of external tools through the use of an app model. Apps can be created quickly and easily and deliver further personalization by allowing users to drag and drop apps into their own My Apps menu.

ANALYTICS

Behind the scenes DORMA’s intranet has a powerful analytics engine for real time insights into how the solution is being used. This allows DORMA to track engagement and adoption as well as continuing to build on the success of their solution.

PEOPLE DIRECTORY

DORMA’s people directory offers a clean card style rollup with search refiners based upon skills, departments, job titles, and location. Profile pages provide a place for users to showcase their experience and skill set. Through the integration of Skype for Business users can start real time conversations with any colleague from directly on their profile page.

DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT

DORMA’s intranet has comprehensive document management capabilities including drag and drop upload, metadata management and version control, delivering a single version of the truth globally as well leveraging search for quickly finding what users need

ENTERPRISE SOCIAL

Through deep Yammer integration, conversations can be started around all manner of content in the intranet including news, stories and videos. Using Office web apps Yammer discussions can be surfaced alongside documents during collaborative co-authoring. Yammer groups and All Company conversations can be accessed from the timeline navigation item.

INTUITIVE AND SIMPLE CMS

Content publishing within DORMA’s intranet has been made easier than ever through a unique interface on top of SharePoint CMS. Simple and intuitive fields and processes allow content creators to focus on the information they are sharing rather than the process of creating it for more expedient insights and best practices that can travel the business in minutes not hours.

MOBILE ACCESS

Through a combination of both responsive design and native mobile applications for iOS, Android and Windows Phone DORMA’s intranet can be accessed across any device maintaining exceptional user experiences. The native applications tie into the core functionality of mobile devices allowing for functionality such as one click calling from the people directory.

CONCLUSION

DORMA was able to deploy a feature full cloud, mobile and social intranet in the space of just 60 days, all in time for the International Group Conference and BAU trade fair. This made for a hugely successful launch supporting their biggest internal events with social conversations, news articles and insightful blogs. Moreover, the solution they deployed was on a global scale but never lost sight of the detail. Their solution delivers personalized and localized intranet experiences ensuring content and information is relevant to each individual user, ultimately driving adoption, usage and ROI for the entire business.

Since implementation of the new solution DORMA have seen an increase in global corporate news coverage of 570%. Deployment of their new unified intranet solution has resulted in a 27% cost saving through the consolidation of existing SharePoint portals, and through the 60 day deployment timescale they have saved a further 15% over a traditional bespoke SharePoint solutions.
