The year four children seem to have been out loads. They visited Cerne Abbas, had a French morning at St.
Mary’s, a maths lesson at Piddle Valley, then spent three days at Carey Camp. They represented our school in an
Eco School presentation at the Thomas Hardye School and were so good that they were asked to return to
support Thomas Hardye School’s attempt to become a sustainable school. I think THS did it too.
One beautiful sunny day we all walked up to the Manor House – yes all of us – children, staff, parents and tiny
ones too – to have a picnic. Well actually it was a teddy bears’ picnic. Jacky Folley and Penny Price organised
the ‘Let’s Get Cooking’ club to cook up some cookies, they picked lettuce grown in school and cooked our own
potatoes and produced the most superb lunch, served just off the tennis court. How brave are Eve and Michael
Bonham Cozens – well how kind are they? A picnic on the grass in the sun, a sing song with Mr Duffin, teddy
bear races on the court then a run in the woods. An absolutely perfect day. Thank you to the Bonham Cozens.
Everyone at the school would like to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to Richard Hayward from Bulbarrow Timber who has
donated 15 bags of bark to help us be even more eco- friendly and save water on our garden. Richard has
donated lots to our school over a long period and we are so very grateful.
Thank you everyone for the Tesco vouchers. We have just received about 80 tennis balls, 2 parachutes, 6
scoopers (loved by the children) and 2 i-cameras free with vouchers collected this year. Thank you all so much.
We still have a vacancy for a lunch time assistant. If you anyone is interested in the post or a job share, do
please call the school. We’d love to hear from you. We really are a super team and our children are great.
It’s nearly the end of term and we are looking forward to our Caterpillars starting in September but not looking
forward to losing our brilliant year four children to St Mary’s. Our loss though is their gain.
