Family Move - Outside of the Kimberly Area School District
When a family moves outside of the Kimberly Area School District, students may continue to attend the school where they are currently enrolled if they qualify for a Tuition Waiver (obtained from the district office). Students who qualify for a Tuition Waiver are entitled to continue their enrollment through the waiver period. However, they are required to apply for Open Enrollment during the next Open Enrollment application period if they want to remain in
the Kimberly Area School District after the Tuition Waiver has expired.
For additional information, please contact Jen Bixler at (920)423-4166 or email her at [email protected]
Family Move - Within the Kimberly Area School District
When a family move occurs within the Kimberly Area School District, students may continue to attend the school where they are currently enrolled even though their residence has changed to another Kimberly Area School
District attendance area.
Parents who wish to have their student(s) remain in the same school after a move within the school district must complete the School Request Form located on the district website under Student &
Parents>Enrollment>Attendance and return it to the district office Attn: Sara Vogel.
For additional information regarding school request contact Sara Vogel at (920)423-4122.
COUGH DROPS AT SCHOOL
We have recently had several students bringing cough drops to school. Please remember that all medication, including cough drops, must be kept in the office with a medication consent form signed by a parent. Medication must be in the original package and cannot be expired. The medication consent form can be found here: https://

The Kimberly Area School District is dedicated to providing the safest environment for our students and staff. During the 2018-19 school year, schools will be implementing a new secure access system, commonly known as a “buzz-in entry”.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
● All visitors (including family members, volunteers, and vendors arerequired to follow the buzz-in procedure during the school day.)
● When you arrive, press the button on the intercom. Guests may beasked to present a government issued ID to the glass window forverification.
● A staff member may ask you some clarifying questions beforegranting access to the building.
● Once inside, continue to sign in at the office and wear a visitor badgewhile in the school.
● Anyone unfamiliar with the buzz-in procedure can refer to instructionsposted at the main entrance of the school.
● We realize this system will require a change in practice from staff, families, and visitors.
● Thank you for your support as we work to create the safest learningenvironment possible.
What are Career Clusters?
Greetings from Life Skills Class!
Throughout this year you have been hearing all sorts of news and information about Academic and Career Planning, or ACP.
ACP is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills.
As a part of this process, our elementary schools are focusing on career and work habits awareness. These concepts are taught through our Life Skills class and the Social Studies curriculum in 1st- 4th grade.
During Life Skills class students will explore broad groupings of careers, called career clusters. Career clusters are an organizational tool which allows students to think more broadly about jobs and examine their similarities and differences. These broad groupings are later used as a comparison for students’ strengths and interests as they begin intermediate and middle school. Attached you will find a visual for all 16 career cluster groups. Students will explore many of these clusters throughout their time in elementary school.
Talking with your child about how your career, other family members’ careers, or careers you encounter in the community may fit into one or more career clusters would be a great way to extend learning to your home! You may also want to have conversations about the skills needed to be successful in certain jobs or talk about whether your child believes they might enjoy a job in a specific career cluster.
If you have any questions about the career awareness activities happening at your school, contact your school counselor or your child’s homeroom teacher.
Sincerely,
Stacy Courtney School Counselor Westside Elementary
