PASTOR’S COLUMN Saint Agnes has enjoyed a long tradition of fostering reli-gious vocations in our students and parishioners. This coming Spring, I will have the privilege of accompanying 14 of the young men attending our high school on a Voca-tions Pilgrimage to Spain and Portugal. As pilgrims, they will visit some of the great sites of our Faith in these coun-tries and participate in daily Mass and devotions as they search for direction for their own vocations. Next Sun-day, these students will be serving a pancake breakfast in Schuler Hall alongside the Knights of Columbus in an effort to raise funds to support this trip.
Below you will find a list of all the sites to be visited by the pilgrims. As we did with the France pilgrimage two years ago, parishioners are invited to sponsor the trip by donating the suggested donation/stipend for each loca-tion. This can be done by contacting the parish office at 651-925-8800. A poster listing these sites to be sponsored will also be at the breakfast next weekend and in the ves-tibule of the church until the beginning of the trip. Thank you for your consideration of support for these pilgrims.

CHORALE AND ORCHESTRA NOTES Joseph Haydn, Nelsonmesse (1798)
This Mass has several names, but Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) called it by its Latin title, Missa in Angustiis (Mass in Time of An-guish). The Nelsonmesse nickname was confirmed when Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson heard a presentation of the Mass while visiting the Esterházy palace in Eisenstadt, during the summer of 1800. The Twin Cities Catholic Chorale is a non-profit corpo-ration, which depends solely on the generosity of its pa-trons. Programs are available at the church entrances and at www.catholicchorale.org. Next Sunday the Chorale & Orches-tra will present Charles Gounod’s Messe Solennelle (Saint Cecelia).
