    THE ORIGINAL SUMMER CAMPAt the Y, there is fun for everyone regardless of your age, income or background.

    We bring people closer together in a welcoming, supportive environment to

    nurture the potential of youth, promote healthy living and give back to the

    community.

    This summer, children can learn, grow and thrive through the exhilerating fun of a

    traditional day, specialty, and sports camps at the Y. In the midst of all the fun,

    theyll explore nature, find new talents, try new activites, gain independence, and

    make lasting friendships.

    Teens can have fun socializing with their friends in a safe, positive environment

    while exploring interests, learning leadership skills, and discovering all they canachieve.

    Counselors can express their unique personalities, share their diverse talents, and

    role model the path for the futures young leaders.

    INFORMATION FOR PARENTSA SAFE PLACE FOR SUMMER

    YMCA Day Camps provide a happy and healthy environment for children to learn and grow. Children have the

    opportunity to build self-confidence, independence and creativity. Parents have peace of mind knowing their

    children are in a safe and enriching environment.

    EVERYONE BELONGS AT THE Y: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEIndividuals and families may apply for financial assistance for membership or programs such as child care and

    day camp. Assistance is based upon a number of factors including total household income and number of

    dependents. The process is confidential and application forms and brochures about the program are available

    at the Bloomsburg YMCA or online atwww.bloomsburgy.org.

    STAFF

    The YMCA Summer Camp staff will provide a safe environment with planned activities that are exciting and

    age appropriate. Counselors are selected based on their educational skills, maturity, creativity, and sensitivity

    to the needs of campers. All counselors have criminal and child abuse clearance and are certified in First

    Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, Blood Borne Pathogens, Fire/Water Safety, and Emergency Action Plans. So,

    you can rest assured that the Bloomsburg Area YMCA counselors are trained, caring, and positive role models.

    PACKING LIST

    Full day campers need to bring the following items daily, labeled with

    the childs name in the backpack:

    Water Bottle Swim Suit (One piece) Towel Tennis Shoes (Closed-Toe Shoes) NOFlip-Flops! Sunscreen (to re-apply throughout the day)

    Most campers spend the day outdoors. Children must wear appropriate clothing and footwear. No sandals or

    flip flops permitted. Sunscreen should be applied before camp and brought to camp as well.

    WEEKLY PAYMENTChoose the week of the camp you would like to attend and pay only for that week. Camp rates listed in the

    guide are per week.

    BALANCE PAYMENT

    Weekly balance payments are due by 7:00pm on the Monday prior to the start of each

    camp week.

    Weekly balance payments may be made inperson or over the phone.

    Camp payments are nonrefundable.TRANSFERS

    A transfer of the deposit and balance fromone camp week to another new week will

    be accepted on a space available basis.

    Transfers must be completed 7 days prior to

    the start of the camp week initially

    registered for.

    If a transfer is requested less than 7 daysprior to the start of the camp week initially

    registered for, the deposit will be forfeited.A new deposit will be required to secure a

    spot in the new camp week.

    SIGN IN/OUT PROCEDURE

    Every day, your child must be signed in and out by

    an adult listed on the contact list you complete

    during registration. For your childs safety, we

    require anyone picking up a child to show a picture

    ID.

    EXTENDED CARE

    EXTENDED CARE IS OFFERED AT NO ADDITIONAL

    COST! During these hours, campers have a variety

    of stations to choose from, including sports, group

    games, and arts & crafts.

    AGE GROUPS

    Camps are organized by grade. All campers must be

    entering the grade in the fall as listed for each

    camp.

    Our ratios range from 1 staff leader for every 7

    campers to 1 staff leader for every 10 campers,

    depending upon grade level.

    SWIM TEST REQUIREMENT

    Campers will complete a brief water competency

    check the first time we swim to ensure water

    safety.

    SPECIAL NEEDS

    YMCA leaders are encouraging, patient, and can

    help facilitate successful camp experiences for

    children with mild to moderate disabilities. For

    specific questions regarding your child, please

    T-SHIRT

    With your registration, you will receive one

    Bloomsburg Y Camp Shirt. It is important that all

    campers have a camp shirt for our field trip days.

    Camp Shirts will also be available for $5 each if

    youd like a second shirt or if you lose your original

    one.

    LUNCH

    Thank to the Tapestry of Health all of our summer

    campers are allowed to participate in the Free

    Lunch Program at Memorial Elementary.

    FULL DAY REGISTRATION

    SUMMER CAMPSummer Camp offers a time full of

    friendships, fun, and lasting memories.

    What better way to experience this than

    the 2014 Bloomsburg Area YMCA

    Summer Day Camp? The camp is designed

    to meet the summertime needs of

    children, working parents, and families.Our staff emphasizes emotional growth,

    character development, and physical

    activities, as well as, building the self-

    confidence all kids deserve.

    This camp is based on a 10-week program

    where the Y provides childcare for

    children ages 5-12 years during the hours

    of 9am to 4pm. Before and after campcare is also provided from 6:30am-9am

    and 4pm-5:30pm. Camp includes crafts,

    games/sports, enrichment time, character

    development, guest speakers, field

    trips/swimming, and much more.

    REGISTRATION INFORMATION Our day camp is a 10-week program that runs

    June 16-Aug 15.

    Campers can sign up one or more weeks. Registration opens April 5, 2014. The extended care hours for :

    o Pre-camp are 6:309:00 amo Post-camp are 4:005:30 pm.

    2014 REGULAR CAMP

    WEEK 1:June 16th20th

    We are celebrating the start of summer Hawaiian style.

    We will be playing lots of ice breakers and making fun

    crafts. The campers swim test will be held Wednesday.

    WEEK 2:June 23rd27thLions and tigers and bears! Oh My! Come on a safari

    with us to Lake Tobias and learn everything from animal

    calls to life at the zoo. Learn about all different habitats

    and experience the vast smorgasbord of plant and

    animal life on our planet.

    Field Trip: Lake Tobias.

    WEEK 3:June 30thJuly 3rdCome join your friends as we enjoy the summer sun!

    We will take part in classic outdoor games; such as

    limbo, corn hole, Tug-of-War, sack races, and relay

    races that you dont want to miss!! We will jam out to

    back yard tunes as we partake in our good ol

    watermelon festival.

    Field Trip: Peanut Bowl.No Camp on July 4

    WEEK 4:July 7th11thCome one, come all to the greatest camp on earth!

    Join this wild and wacky circus troupe!

    Field Trip: Knoebels.

    WEEK 5:July 14th18thLose yourself at camp! This week we will learn

    yoga, fitness tips, how to cook with a local expert,

    and challenge your mind and your body.

    Field Trip: Skate Town.

    WEEK 6:July 21st25th

    Water! Water! Water! Campers will have fun cooling off

    in this soaked and water-filled camp. Campers will swim

    and participate in various water activities.

    Field Trip: Montage Mountain Water Park.

    WEEK 7:July 28thAugust 1st

    Treasure from trash. Shoeboxes, newspaper, paper

    bags, and more turned into something artistic and fun.

    Field Trip: Tee-to-Green.

    WEEK 8:August 4th8th

    Slimy, snotty, sneezy and smelly Grossologyis the

    scientific study of all thats NOT allowed at the dinner

    table! This week is guaranteed to make you say

    eeewwwwwwwww!

    WEEK 9:August 11th15thReady to play Sharks and Minnows? Mermaids, shells,

    whales abound as we explore life under the sea through

    nature, crafts, and outside activities. Of course, no

    Under the Sea week would be complete without some

    wet, wild, and wacky water games as we find plenty of

    ways to beat the summer heat.

    Summer Camps are offered to

    children ages 6 and up unless

    otherwise specified.

    Each camp will run Monday

    through Friday from either 9:00am-

    12:00pmor 1:00pm-4:00pm.

    Campers will have an exciting

    summer learning and creating.

    Space is limited and spots are

    available on a first come first serve

    basis.

    2014 MINI CAMPS

    An art camp for kids, where art work is inspired by

    famous artists throughout history. Take a whirlwind

    tour throughout time and be inspired by variousartists. Projects will include the artists Andy Warhol,

    Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and

    many more! We will use a wide variety of media

    during this camp.

    TIME: 9:00am-12:00pmMaximum number of campers: 15

    Learn how to create art jewelry out of found objects

    (plastic, washers, buttons and paper) and new

    materials (plastic beads). This five day class focuses on

    jewelry making techniques in beading, wire wrapping

    as well as exploring jewelry making from repurposed

    and recycled materials.

    TIME: 1:00pm-4:00pmMaximum number of campers: 15

    Do you have a child whos not afraid to get messy

    and loves to create? Throughout the week, campers

    will get down and dirty creating various pieces of art

    including paper mache, clay, tye-dye, and much

    more!

    TIME: 9:00am-12:00pm

    Maximum number of campers: 15

    An art camp for kids where artwork is inspired by the

    seven continents. Take a whirlwind tour around theworld and create art work inspired by several culture

    and their unique traditions. Projects will include

    Aboriginal Paintings, Koi Fish, African Landscapes and

    Mexican Guitars. We will use a wide variety of media

    during this camp.

    TIME: 9:00am-12:00pmMaximum number of campers: 15

    Do you have an assistant chef in the kitchen who is

    also an art fanatic? Throughout the week campers will

    have the opportunity to make and eat various projects

    such as tye-dye cupcakes and edible jewelry. Yum!

    DATE: July 14thAugust 18st

    TIME: 1:00pm-4:00pmMaximum number of campers: 10

    Craft a creation! This unique, hands-on camp

    introduces young artists to a variety of art media tha

    may include drawing, painting, clay creations, paper

    mache, and more! Please send campers in appropria

    clothing that allow for freedom of expression or send

    smock.

    flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance through gam

    Come beat the summer heat with us as we splasharound for a week of action packed fun.
