DEAR CAMPER PARENTS:

For more than 65 years, Covenant Harbor has provided life-changing camp experiences for children of all ages. Intentional about camp being a fun and safe experience, our main emphasis on programming is to present the truths of Scripture so children may discover what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our youth ministry team prayerfully recruits over 75 college students from around the country to serve as counselors, waterfront staff, support staff and program staff who will pour their hearts and souls into leading your children. With extensive training in safety, dealing with homesickness, dealing with discipline issues, creating fun activities, leading devotions and cabin talks, and most important, how to share their faith in Jesus with children, our staff is excited to provide an unforgettable week for your children!

We look forward to having your children here for Summer Camp 2014!

— Ray Warren, Executive Director

FROM A DAY CAMP PARENT:

Why did you choose to send your child to Covenant Harbor?“I chose to send Tyler to Covenant Harbor this summer because we were new to the area. I thought it would be a great way for him to meet some local kids. He had a fabulous experience!”

What are some highlights/stories from your experience as a camper parent or your child’s experience as a camper you would like to share?“For me, as a parent, it was awesome knowing that he was in a safe place, having a great time and learning more about God. Tyler said, ‘I loved going to Covenant Harbor because I got to know more about God and how special He is.’ He also loved hanging out with the counselors and staff.”

Why do you want to continue sending your child to our day camp programs at Covenant Harbor?“Sending Tyler back to Covenant Harbor is a no-brainer for me. It is another place where he can be impacted in a positive fashion, as he continues to mature as a young man and in his faith. It brings me great joy to know that he is rubbing shoulders with caring adults who love Jesus and know how to have a blast with kids.”

FROM A KISHWAUKETOE PARENT:

Why did you choose to send your child to Covenant Harbor?“We have a family history with Covenant Harbor. Her grandparents met there back in the 60’s when they were on staff and I attended as a camper as well. We wanted Mackenzie to have a safe, fun, Bible-based, God-centered time for her first camp experience and knew Covenant Harbor would be the place.”

What are some highlights/stories from your experience as a camper parent or your child’s experience as a camper you would like to share?“Mackenzie LOVED her time on the lakefront. She still talks about the banana boat. She got a kick out of the messy games too. We think she enjoyed being independent as well - getting herself ready and picking what she wanted at meals. She had only amazing things to say about her counselor. On the drive home she was ready to commit to going again in 2014!”

Why do you want to continue sending your child to camp programs at Covenant Harbor?“Not only did she have a BLAST at camp, but it was so cool to see her reading her Bible and talking about some of the scriptures they discussed at camp, once she was home - without being prompted by us. The parent communication during her camp experience was great too. It was neat getting the updates and photos on Facebook to see the activities and happy faces.”

FROM A PIER 30 PARENT:

Why did you choose to send your child to Covenant Harbor?“A good friend invited Ian to share the experience of Covenant Harbor with him two years ago and after doing our research and listening to our friend’s stories, we were convinced Covenant Harbor was the best choice for our son’s first away-camp experience. Our friend shared her experiences she had as a child at Covenant Harbor and how each of her four children went to Covenant Harbor every summer only to come home with better stories each year.”

What are some highlights/stories from your experience as a camper parent or your child’s experience as a camper you would like to share?“Hands-down, the counselors. Ian has bonded each year with his counselors and keeps them in his mind as a strong Christian role model for himself. To our surprise he actually said he loved his time alone with God. He said it gave him time to think about Jesus and all he’s done for us. In turn, that reflection helped him think of things to be thankful for during prayer time. And of course, the Big Games…a big hit!”

Why do you want to continue sending your child to camp programs at Covenant Harbor?“Aside from the fact that Ian would be very upset with us if we didn’t send him to Covenant Harbor each summer(!), we know his time there is the one week he gets to unplug from everyday life and hear God’s word in a quiet yet fun environment. We know it’s a time for him to bond with kids his own age, counselors who care and inspire, and a God that is open to his love. We treasure that we have found you and we all look forward to that week in the summer when our son gets to

have an experience like no other. Thank you.”

www.covenantharbor.org HIGH SCHOOL 16

FROM A HIGH SCHOOL PARENT:

Why did you choose to send your child to Covenant Harbor?“Steve has always enjoyed his Covenant Harbor camping experience and wanted to expound upon that time. I chose to send Steve to Alpha camp because he wanted a longer experience at Covenant Harbor and he wanted an opportunity to join the community at a higher level. He wanted more experience to be on his own, have more responsibilities for tasks at camp and strengthen his faith in God. The campers have a lot fun at camp, but what Covenant Harbor does best is make each camper feel important and accepted; with support in life we can all go far in life.”

What are some highlights/stories from your experience as a camper parent or your child’s experience as a camper you would like to share?“Steve learned that God is always there and that it is important to show others that God is around us. We are fortunate to have three generations of Covenant Harbor campers in our family who through that experience have deepened our faith and heightened our self-confidence.”

Why do you want to continue sending your child to camp programs at Covenant Harbor?“Every year Steve grows more in his faith and maturity from his experience at camp. The Covenant Harbor staff make him feel significant and every year he claims that was ‘this was best week of my life’.”
