Cases are used in problem based learning. There are different types of cases some engage people in complex issues and ask people to take actions on such dilemmas while some cases are to present appoint of reference or comparison between two situations. Main purpose of cases is to engage student in the learning process and tell them how it is in the day to day businesses. Also writing process consist of four major activities: planning, organizing, drafting, and revising.

A teaching case is a snapshot of actual management situation. It makes people think as a part of the organization and ask them to make decision on the behalf of organizations. A good teaching case has two components an interesting story to engage its audience and a sharp focus. There are 10 set of questions which will help in writing a good teaching case. These question guides us that how the case fits into teaching, what level of difficulty should be used, choice of topic, type of case, decision focus etc.

Also this reading tells us about required skills for the critical reading and analysis of the cases and different methods used to make conclusion about these cases. Readings also tells us the difference between receiving the knowledge and making the knowledge. Also it tells us about writing process and how to persuade your audience by logically supporting your argument.

From this I have learned about different types of cases and difference between their formats, objectives each process or purpose serves and how they engage students and helps students in their practical life. I also come across some interesting thing like I learned that drafting is developing ideas rather than formatting. Also the difference between receiving knowledge and making it.
