Are a pleasure And Children’s treasure.”
Holidays are time when you can connect with your child in many ways. As
parents are the first and the most important teacher for a child, we can
encourage our child to participate in many educational activities at home and
promote his/her quest to learn. Working together will not only help your child
to build, learn and develop his/her skills but also strengthen your bond with
him/her.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARENTS
� Holiday homework has to be done under the parental guidance.
� Make sure your ward reads picture stories.
� Make your ward learn and remember his/her parents mobile/landline
number, house address etc, to make him/her independent and secure.
� Do not miss to take your child ,outdoors in the evening.
� Try and have meals with your child on the dining table and without any gadget.
� Do any creative activity, which you are good at with your ward.
� Fix up a time table for your ward to organize his/her daily routine like,
watching television, playing with friends, studying etc.
� Try to build a bond with your child by engaging them in your daily
activities like playing simple games ,
Share stories from your childhood with them.
� Make your child responsible by assigning some of the household
responsibilities to him/her like, watering plants, arranging the dining
table, organizing his/her room and cupboards, fill the empty water
bottles and put them in refrigerator.
� Allow your child to play outdoors and get dirty.
Above mentioned guidelines will help your child to become a smart and an
active learner.
Here are few interesting activities that will keep your child engrossed.
1. Encourage your child to
• Do picture reading and name the different things found in the picture 2. Art of paper folding “Origami” – guide your child to make any one craft of
his/her choice using the origami paper
3. Visit any one of the following place with your child
• Zoological Park
• A place of National Heritage e.g. Victoria Memorial
• Indian Museum
• Birla Planetarium
4. Movie Time for Kids – Let your child watch movies like
• Jungle Book
• The Incredibles
• Jurassic Park 5. Nurture the Nature
• Get up early in the morning and watch the raising sun
• Go for a nature walk with your grandparents
• Buy a big mud pot of any shape. Fill it with soil, grow variety of
plants in it and decorate it by putting small pebbles. Keep it in your
house to create a miniature garden. It will make your ward
responsible towards nature and make him/her happy by seeing
plants grow. Capture the
photographs of your child’s garden and send it to school.
6. Make a routine for your child to watch T.V. channels like:
• discovery channel
• national geographic
• animal planet
7. Help your child to inculcate the following skills
• button his/her shirt
• tie his/her shoelace
• pack his/her school bag
• keep his/her belongings in place
Social Skills
• Sit at the dining table with your family to eat your meal.
• Encourage them to speak politely with their peer group.
• Encourage the habit of sharing with their peers.
• Encourage the child to use magic words like please, sorry, thank you. Personal Hygiene
• brush our teeth twice daily
• Comb hair regularly
• Bathe everyday
• wash hands before and after meals/use a sanitizer before and after every meal.
• Cut our nails regularly and keep it clean
Gross Motor & Fine Motor Skills
• Engage your kids in activities like Aerobics, swimming, dance etc.
• picking up, holding onto small objects
• turning the pages of a book
• squeeze bathe sponges, washing up sponges to make foam
• watering plants using spray buckets
• encourage outdoor playing with peers • walking in a park
• Picture of their favourite cartoon character
• Picture with their favourite toy
• Picture in their favourite dress
