SUBMISSION DATE EXTENDED THROUGH 1-10-17!!!
This ribbon will be awarded to each Troop that verifies all partici-pating youth and adults are registered Trail Life USA members.
Being registered assures that participants are “official” - wearing the lanyard/ID tag for adults and youth (using the name card in-cluded in the appropriate program-specific card set available in the Trail Leader Store in TroopTrack); more importantly, they are insured for Troop meetings and outdoor adventures, and are able to earn advancements. Since Trail Life USA is supported by mem-ber fees, it strengthens our entire organization.
This is a great opportunity for a win-win situation for Troops, par-ents, and boys! Encouraging regularly attending participants to register as official members provides several ways to strengthen and grow a THRIVING Troop! Boys get in the system to track par-ticipation and earn awards, and adults become involved, providing more options to fulfill oversight requirements.
By taking advantage of the Registered Adult membership position, adults can join without a leadership role, and can count to fulfill two-deep leadership. This spreads the responsibility to more, and takes the bur-den off the few! SHARED LEADERSHIP (one of our Core Values) is actively at work!
In fact, we have found in Troops that promote/encourage Registered Adult membership, a nat-ural progression occurs. Registered Adults begin by stepping in as a part of two-deep leader-ship, and then discover additional ways they can help, and they feel empowered to do so! You are encouraged to share the philosophy of Shared Leadership with your parents, members, and leaders, so they recognize the value and are willing to invest in membership. Find ways to make it financially feasible through fundraising and Charter Organization support to make it possible for those in need who desire to serve.
On a related note, utilize the new Adult Connection Guide that can be found on the THRIVE page of www.JoinTheTrail.com. This form can be handed out to all regularly attending parents in order for Troop leaders to find out more, including what special interests and skills those around them have to share. SHARED LEADERSHIP—Make it happen!
After verifying by January 10, 2017 that all regular participants are currently registered, please
follow this LINK to complete the online participation form prior to midnight on January 10, 2017.

This ribbon can be earned by each Troop that gives a "gift" of service to their Charter Organization during the month of January. This award opportunity is designed to help strengthen the relationship between the Charter Organization and the Troop. Ask your Charter Organiza-tion how you can help them. Let them know your Troop is thankful for your ministry partnership.
Your Charter Organization may need things done at the facility location like rooms cleaned or organized, fur-niture rearranged, grounds landscaped, or snow cleared. Perhaps they might request help for some of their mem-bers, or maybe they need ushers during their services, or servers for a community meal. The possibilities are nu-merous!
One ribbon will be awarded to each Troop that com-pletes the online form and sends photos of Trailmen and their Leaders, in any type of TLUSA uniform, performing their service project that benefits their Charter Organiza-tion.
Please follow this LINK to complete the online participa-tion form by February 5, 2017. Ribbons will be mailed in March.

Summary of the Trail Life USA Respect Life Program
Woodlands Trail Lesson Plans (Values)
Four lessons and one Hit the Trail! to use in a special month to emphasis sanctity of life issues.
Lesson 1: All people are created in the image of God and our valuable to Him.
Goal: For boys to understand that they and people of all ages (conception to
death) are made in the image of God, and are valued and loved by Him.
Lesson 2: All people are redeemable by God.
Goal: For boys to understand that all humanity has sinned and distorted the
image of God. They are still valuable to God, and therefore God sent his Son to
redeem them and make them clear image bearers.
Lesson 3: All people are worthy of compassion and care.
Goal: To teach the boys that since we are created in God’s image, valuable to
God, and redeemable through Jesus, we should treat each person with dignity,
compassion and care. (orphan, widow care)
Lesson 4: Babies are made in the image of God and their life should be protected.
Goal: For boys to understand that babies from the moment they start growing
in their mother’s tummy, are persons made in the image of God, valued by
God, and have a right to life.
Hit the Trail!: Visiting or assisting the elderly or at a crisis pregnancy center or blessing
widows, orphans or foster families.
Navigator/Adventurer Respect Life Elective Trail Badge (Values)
A Christian worldview values all of human life: men and women; boys and girls; babies and the
elderly, sick and healthy, special needs children and adults, etc. How does God see them?
What does he want us to do? The Trailman will engage in study and various activities of his
choosing to learn about these issues through scripture and research. He will also learn by ac-
tion and/or leading as he seeks to understand ways in which he can stand for the unborn, sick,
and helpless.
