Fee Definitions
• Course fees charged by schools and colleges cover costs for a specific course such as specialized materials or supplies, lab usage, distance learning technology, etc. Revenues are used only for costs directly related to the course for which they are charged.
• Program fees cover school, college, department, or degree program costs for academic, instructional, or administrative charges that are not specific to a single course. Examples include technology infrastructure and support, school-sponsored instructional support, school or college-wide immunization compliance management, internship placements, and counseling services.
• Student purpose or activity fees are applied to an entire campus, combined campuses, or a specified cohort of a campus student body (such as all Anschutz students in clinically-based professional training programs). In all cases, this fee is not confined to a particular school, program, or course.

• Each fee or fee adjustment has a review process requiring student input.
• Fees must be reviewed at least every four years. Fees will be reviewed with regard to original purpose, intended and current use of fee revenue, impact on students and academic units, adequate student inclusion in and access to the services or goods provided, billing procedures, financial aid issues, problematic impacts, and other fee-specific factors.
