What is Stub-EASE?

o Stub-EASE™ simplistically eliminates electrical conduit stub-ups from concrete construction by embedding a coupling accessible via a pocket created by a plastic sleeve penetrating the concrete slab.

o The concept is to maintain a coupling within the slab or below the grade of concrete to keep future extensions of the conduit from protecting beyond the top of concrete.

o The plastic sleeve, or pocket former Stub-EASE is attached to the embedded conduit via a threaded coupling, be it set screw or compression connection. This can be accomplished with a 90 degree bend on the conduit or using a threaded short radius 90 degree elbow, depending on the depth of the concrete slab.

o After the concrete pour, the HDPE (high density poly-ethylene) sleeve and support is cut down to the top of concrete elevation and left in the slab until the future raceway is ready to be safely extended into a wall cavity.

o Then, the electrician can use their pliers to unscrew the sleeve, using the plastic partition wall in the middle of the sleeve, to expose the embedded threaded coupling.

Traditional Methods Aren’t Cutting It.

Don’t stick to traditional methods of breaking the conduit stub-up with a hammer. This leads to damaged conduit and a damaged raceway.

Methods of construction are changing and it is time to adapt. Using Stub-EASE will result in less OSHA Violations and Workers

Compensation claims due to slipping, tripping and falling on conduit stub-ups.

With Stub-EASE, you eliminate the stub-up, making your workplace safer.

The Benefitso Eliminates the safety hazard of trips, falls, and impalements relative to conduit stub-ups. o Protects raceways from damage, debris, and infiltration until vertical extension is

installed.o Substantial cost savings in labor and material from conduit repairs, lost race- ways,

and/or the need for redundancy.o Reduction in workman’s compensation claims, as well as loss time work incidents from

conduit stub-up related injuries.o Allows for conduit conversion between RMC to EMT and vice versa.o Reduces exposure to costly lawsuits with every implementation of Stub-EASE™ vs.

conduit stub-ups.

History

o Conduit "stub-ups" have been traditionally accepted in the concrete construction industry as a necessary evil. Until now, methods of protection and awareness have ranged from spraying the "stub-up" safety orange and taping a flag to them, to setting concrete blocks over the top of the "stub-up". All the while, the hazards for trips, falls, and impalements, as well as exposure to expensive damage (or potential loss) of the raceway were only being highlighted or hidden.

o Having worked in high-rise construction for over 20 years, the Owner and Inventor of Stub-EASE™ realized the need for an engineered solution after his first CCIP (Contractor Controlled Insurance Program) project suffered a financial loss from incidents related to conduit "stub-ups", one of which settled at $1.1 million dollars, but also saw the affect it had on the lives of those involved over the course of his career. The unsuspecting victims far exceeded the reported incidents, and most in the business have a story relative to tripping over a conduit stub-up!

o The financial burden hardly stops at the expense of injuries, but also includes the amount of work/cost required to repair or abandon the damaged conduit "stub-ups". In addition, the repeated trips back to the floors to manage these integral parts, along with the financial liability far exceeds the cost of the Stub-EASE™ Solution!

Avoid Ligation

o “We recovered $1.1 Million in a construction negligence case for a tradesman who suffered a broken toe and herniated disk in his low back, when he tripped and fell over an electrical conduit stub-up during the construction of a high-rise building. We were able to establish, that due to the construction technique being used there were an unusual number of mechanical stub-ups protruding from the poured concrete floors of the structure. We showed that the general contractor and the electrical contractors knew that these stub ups presented a hazard to the tradesmen on the job and they failed to act to reduce the substantial risk of harm until after our client was injured.
