The PDUIF must ensure a sustainable balance between the needs of mobility, the protection of environment and health and the financial needs.

This balance shall facilitate the attractiveness of the French region ‘Ile-de-France’ and guarantee the social cohesion.

MOBILITYENVIRONMENT, HEALTH,

QUALITY OF LIFEFINANCING

Sustainable balance

The Ile-de-France Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan

(PDUIF)

In order to ensure this balance today and moreover in the future, we have to:

Change the mobility conditions

Change our behaviour

Modernisation and development of the network: the ‘New Greater Paris’

Who does what?

The STIF is the public transport organising authority (as of right) making sure thatinvestments in Ile-de-France are consistent.

The STIF is the pilot for studying the regional ‘Plan de Mobilisation’ projects, organising the consultation and choosing the operator. The STIF is the publiccontracting authority for several projects and may delegate that authority.

Public companies (RATP, SNCF, RFF) as well as local governments may also becontracting authorities and be in charge of the building.

The ‘Société du Grand Paris’ (Greater Paris Company, created in 2010) hasbecome a common law State operator and the contracting authority in chargeof the achievement of the ‘Grand Paris Express’. The STIF has to approve thedifferent steps of the ‘Grand Paris Express’ project.

STIF continues to evolve…

2014: a new step of decentralization in France

STIF becomes an organising authority in charge of sustainablemobility

Its role is strengthened to implement the SUMP

Its jurisdiction is extended to car pooling, car sharing and thedevelopment of bicycle (bike sharing)

STIF will strengthen its cooperation with local authorities throughlocal SUMPs
