Opening Prayer

My Lord Jesus Christ, you have made this

journey to die for me with love unutterable, and I

have so many times unworthily abandoned you;

but now I love you with my whole heart, and

because I love you I repent sincerely for ever

having offended you. Pardon me, my God, and

permit me to accompany you on this journey.

You go to die for love of me; I wish also, my

beloved Redeemer, to die for love of you. My

Jesus, I will live and die always united to you.

Oración de apertura

Señor mío Jesucristo, tú recorriste con tan grande

amor este camino para morir por mí, y muchas

veces te he abandonado indignamente por el

pecado; más ahora te amo con todo mi corazón,

y porque te amo, me arrepiento sinceramente de

haberte ofendido. Perdóname, Dios mío,

permíteme que te acompañe en este camino. Vas

a morir por mi amor, y también yo quiero morir

por tu amor, mi amado Redentor. Mi Señor

Jesús, quiero vivir y morir siempre unido a Ti.

The First Station

Jesus is condemned to death

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how Jesus Christ, having been scourged and crowned with thorns, was unjustly condemned by Pilate to die on the cross. Lector: Again the high priest began to ask him, and said to him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?” And Jesus said to him, “I am. And you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.” But the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further need have we of witnesses? You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?” And they all condemned him as liable to death. (Mark 14:61-64) All: My adorable Jesus, it was not Pilate; no, it was my sins that condemned you to die. Because of this sad journey of yours, I beg you to help me on the journey that my soul is making toward eternity. I love you, Jesus, my love, more than I love myself. With all my heart I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me be separated from you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will.

At the Cross her station keeping stood the mournful Mother weeping,

close to Jesus to the last.

Primera Estación

Jesús es condenado a muerte

V. Te adoramos, Cristo y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo Jesús, después de haber sido azotado y coronado de espinos, fue injustamente sentenciado por Pilato a morir crucificado. Lector: Entonces el Sumo Sacerdote se levantó, pasó adelante y preguntó a Jesús: “¿No tienes nada que responder? ¿Qué es este asunto de que te acusan?” Pero él guardaba silencio y no contes-taba. De Nuevo el Sumo Sacerdote le preguntó: “¿Eres tú el Me-sías, el Hijo de Dios Bendito?” Jesús respondió: “Yo soy, y un día verán, al Hijo del Hombre sentado a la derecha de Dios pode-roso y viniendo en medio de las nubes del cielo.” El Sumo Sacer-dote rasgó sus vestiduras horrorizado y dijo: “¿Para qué quere-mos ya testigos? Ustedes acaban de oír sus palabras blasfemas. ¿Qué les parece?” Y estuvieron de acuerdo en que merecía la pe-na de muerte. (Marcos 14:61-64) Todos: Adorado Jesús mío: No fue Pilato; eran mis pecados que te sentenciaron a muerte. Por tu camino triste, te suplico me asis-tas en el camino de mi alma hacia la eternidad. Te amo, ¡Oh Je-sús mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a separarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí como te agrade.

The Second Station

Jesus carries his Cross

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how Jesus Christ, as He walked this road with the cross on His shoulder, was thinking of you and offering for you to God the death He was about to suffer. Lector: And Pilate said to the Jews, “Behold, your king!” But they cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your king?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” Then he handed him over to them to be crucified. And so they took Jesus and led him away, bearing the cross for himself. (John 19:14-17) All: My most admirable Jesus, I embrace all the tribulations that you have destined for me until death. Because of the pain you did suffer in carrying your cross, I beg you to give me the strength to carry mine with perfect peace and resignation. I love you, Jesus, my love. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me be separated from you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will.

Through her heart, His sorrow sharing,

all His bitter anguish bearing, now at length the sword had passed. .

Segunda Estación

Jesús carga su cruz

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo Jesús, caminando con la cruz a cuestas,

iba pensando en ti, ofreciendo a su Padre la muerte que iba a pa-

decer, por tu salvación.

Lector: Era el día de la Preparación de la Pascua, hacia el medio-día. Pilato dijo a los judíos: “Aquí tienen a su rey.” Ellos grita-ron: “¡Fuera! ¡Fuera! ¡Crucifícalo!” Pilato replicó: “¿He de cruci-ficar a su Rey?” Los jefes de los sacerdotes contestaron: “No te-nemos más rey que el César.” Entonces Pilato les entregó a Jesús para que lo crucificaran. Así fue como se llevaron a Jesús, car-gando con su propia cruz. (Juan 19:14-17) Todos: Amabilísimo Jesús mío: abrazo todas las tribulaciones

que me tienes destinadas hasta la muerte, y te ruego, por los mé-

ritos de la pena que sufriste llevando tu Cruz, me des fuerzas para

llevar la mía con perfecta paciencia y resignación. Te amo, ¡Oh

Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mi mismo, y me arrepiento de todo

¿Qué pesar se igualaría,

a la pena de María, al mirarle agonizar?

The Third Station

Jesus falls the first time

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider the first fall of Jesus. Loss of blood from the scourging and crowning with thorns had so weakened Him that He could hardly walk. As the soldiers drove on, He fell several times under the weight of the heavy cross. Lector: If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before you. If you were of the world, the world would love what is its own. Because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I have spoken to you: No servant is greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you also. (John 15: 18-20) All: My beloved Jesus, it is not the weight of the cross, but the weight of my sins that makes you suffer so much. Because of this first fall, save me from falling into mortal sin. I love you, my Je-sus, with all my heart. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will

Tercera Estación

Jesús cae por primera vez

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera esta primera caída de Jesús debajo de la Cruz. Su carne estaban despedazada por los azotes; su cabeza coronada de espinas y había ya derramado mucha sangre, por lo cual estaba tan débil que apenas podía caminar; llevaba, al mismo tiempo, aquel enorme peso sobre sus hombros y los soldados le empuja-ban de modo que muchas veces desfalleció y cayó en este ca-mino.

Lector: Si el mundo los odia, sepan que antes me odió a mí. No sería lo mismo si ustedes fueran del mundo, pues el mundo ama lo que es suyo. Pero ustedes no son del mundo, sino que yo los elegí de en medio del mundo, y por eso el mundo los odia. Acuérdense de lo que les dije: el servidor no es más que su pa-trón. Si a mí me han perseguido, también los perseguirán a uste-des. (Juan 15:18-20) Todos: Amado Jesús mío: no es el peso de la Cruz, sino que mis pecados que te hacen sufrir tantas penas. Por los méritos de esta primera caída, sálvame del la caída del pecado mortal. Te amo, ¡Oh Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a sepa-rarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí co-mo te agrade.

En supremo sacrificio participa del suplicio y la angustia de Jesús

The Fourth Station

Jesus meets his afflicted mother

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how the Son met His Mother on His way to Calvary. Jesus and Mary gazed at each other, and the woeful sight pierced their loving hearts with arrows of grief. Lector: Now there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus, therefore, saw his mother and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (John 19:25-27) All: My dearest Jesus, by the pain you did feel in this meeting, grant me the grace of being truly devoted to your holy Mother. My sorrowful Queen, obtain for me through your intercession an ever affectionate remembrance of the Passion of your Son. I love you, Jesus, my love. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may love you, and then do with me what you will.

Christ above in torment hangs, she beneath beholds the pangs,

of her dying, glorious Son.

Cuarta Estación

Jesús encuentra a su madre

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo el Hijo se encontró con su Madre en su camino hacia el Calvario. Jesús y María se miraron el uno al otro, y la triste mirada atravesó sus corazones amorosos con flechas de dolor.

Lector: Cerca de la cruz de Jesús estaba su madre, con María, la hermana de su madre, esposa de Cleofás, y María de Magdala. Jesús, al ver a la Madre y junto a ella al discípulo que más quería, dijo a la Madre: “Mujer, ahí tienes a tu hijo.” Después dijo al dis-cípulo: “Ahí tienes a tu madre.” Y desde aquel momento el discí-pulo se la llevó a su casa. (Juan 19:25-27) Todos: Amantísimo Jesús mío: por la pena que experimentaste en este encuentro, concédeme la gracia de ser verdadero devoto de tu Santísima Madre. Mi Reina dolorosa, que fuiste abrumada de dolor, alcánzame con tu intercesión una continua y amorosa me-moria de la Pasión de tu Hijo. Te amo, “¡Oh Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a separarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí como te agrade.

A su vista lo azotaron y con saña se mofaron

del que diose por amor.

The Fifth Station

Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to

carry his Cross

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how his persecutors, fearing that Jesus might expire from weakness on the way, when they wished to see Him die the infamous death of the cross, forced Simon of Cyrene to carry the cross after our Lord. Lector: And when they had mocked Jesus, they took the purple cloak off and put his own clothes on him, and they led him out to be crucified. Then they forced a certain passer-by, Simon of Cy-rene, coming from the country, to take up his cross. They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha, a name meaning “the place of the skull.” (Mark 15:20-22) All: My sweetest Jesus, I do not wish, like the Cyrenean, to re-fuse the cross; I accept especially the death that is destined for me, with all the pains that may accompany it. I unite it to your death and offer it to you. You died for love of me; I wish to die for love of you and to please you. Help me by your grace. I love you, Jesus, my love. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may love you, and then do with me what you will.

Is there one who would not weep, whelmed in miseries so deep,

Christ’s dear Mother to behold?

Quinta Estación

Simón el Cirineo ayuda a Jesús a

cargar la cruz

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo los judíos, al ver que Jesús iba desfalle-ciendo cada vez más, temieron que se les muriera en el camino y, como deseaban verle morir de la muerte infame de Cruz, obliga-ron a Simón el Cirineo a que le ayudara a llevar aquel pesado madero. Lector: Después de haberse burlado de él, le quitaron la capa roja y le pusieron de nuevo sus ropas. Los soldados sacaron a Jesús fuera para crucificarlo. En ese momento, un tal Simón de Cirene, el padre de Alejandro y de Rufo, volvía del campo, y los solda-dos le obligaron a que llevara la cruz de Jesús. Lo llevaron al lu-gar llamado Gólgota, o Calvario, palabra que significa “calavera”. (Marcos 15:20-22) Todos: Dulcísimo Jesús mío: no quiero renegar de la Cruz, como lo hizo el Cirineo, antes bien, la acepto y la abrazo; acepto en particular la muerte que tengas destinada para mí, con todas las penas que me han de acompañar, la uno a la tuya, y te la ofrezco. Tu moriste por amor a mí, yo quiero morir por tu amor y para agradarte; ayúdame con tu gracia. Te amo, ¡Oh Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a separarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí como te agrade.

Velo ahora cómo expira y le escucha cual suspira: “¡Padre, todo se cumplió!”

The Sixth Station

Veronica wipes the face of Jesus

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how the holy woman, Veronica, seeing Jesus in such distress, with His face bathed with sweat and blood, of-fered Him a towel, and how, in drying Himself with it, our Lord left His sacred image impressed upon it. Lector: “Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you? Or when did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?” And answering the king will say to them, “Amen, I say to you, as long as you did it for one of these, the least of my brethren, you did it for me.” (Matthew 25:37-40) All: My beloved Jesus, your face was beautiful before; yet, on this journey it no longer appears beautiful but disfigured with wounds and blood. Alas! My soul also was once beautiful, when it received your grace in baptism, but I have since then disfigured it with my sins. You alone, my Redeemer, can restore it to its for-mer beauty. Do this by your Passion!

Can the human heart refrain from partaking in her pain,

in that Mother’s pain untold?

Sexta Estación

Verónica limpia el rostro de Jesús

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo la mujer piadosa, Verónica, al ver a Jesús tan fatigado y con el rostro bañado en sudor y sangre, le ofreció un lienzo, y limpiándole el rostros a nuestro Señor, quedó impre-sa su santa imagen en el.

Lector: Entonces los justos dirán: “Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos ham-briento y te dimos de comer, o sediento y te dimos de beber? ¿Cuándo te vimos forastero y te recibimos, o sin ropa y te vesti-mos? ¿Cuándo te vimos enfermo o en la cárcel y fuimos a verte? El Rey responderá: “En verdad les digo que, cuando lo hicieron con alguno de los más pequeños de estos mis hermanos, me lo hicieron a mí.” (Mateo 25:37-40) Todos: Amado Jesús mío: en otro tiempo tu rostro era hermosísi-mo; más en este doloroso viaje las heridas y la sangre han cam-biado y deformado tu hermosura. ¡Ah Señor mío, también mi al-ma quedó hermosa a tus ojos cuando recibí la gracia del bautis-mo, ¡mas yo la he desfigurado después con mis pecados! Tú sólo, ¡Oh Redentor mío!, podrías restituirle su belleza pasada: hazlo por los méritos de tu Pasión. Te amo, ¡Oh Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a separarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí como te agrade.

Por tu corazón que llora

en el nuestro haz tú Señora el amor a Dios crecer.

The Seventh Station

Jesus falls the second time

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how the second fall of Jesus under the cross renews the pain of all the wounds in the sacred head and body of our afflicted Lord. Lector: It was our weakness that he carried, our sufferings that he endured, while we thought of him as stricken, as one struck by God and afflicted. But he was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins; upon him was the punishment that makes us whole, by his stripes we were healed. We had all gone astray like sheep, each following his own way; but the Lord laid upon him the guilt of us all. (Isaiah 53:4-6) All: My most gentle Jesus, how often have you forgiven me, and how often have I again fallen and offended you! Because of this new fall, give me the strength to persevere in your grace until death. Grant that in all the temptations that will assail me, I may always have recourse to you. I love you, Jesus, my love, with all my heart. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me of-fend you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will.

Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled, she beheld her tender child,

all with bloody scourges rent.

Séptima Estación

Jesús cae por segunda vez

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera la segunda caída de Jesús debajo de la Cruz, donde se renueva el dolor de las heridas de su sagrada cabeza y el cuerpo de nuestro Señor afligido.

Lector: Sim embargo, eran nuestras dolencias las que él llevaba, eran nuestros dolores los que le pesaban. Nosotros lo creíamos azotado por Dios, castigado y humillado, y eran nuestras faltas por las que era destruido, nuestros pecados por los que era aplas-tado. El soportó el castigo que nos trae la paz y por sus llagas he-mos sido sanados. Todos andábamos como ovejas errantes, cada cual seguía su propio camino y Yahvé descargó sobre él la culpa de todos nosotros. (Isaías 53:4-6) Todos: Oh pacientísimo, Jesús mío. Tantas veces me habías per-donado, y yo he vuelto a caer y a ofenderte. Ayúdame, por los méritos de esta nueva caída, a perseverar en tu gracia hasta la muerte. Haz que en todas las tentaciones que me asalten, siempre y prontamente, me encomiende a Ti. Te amo, ¡Oh Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a separarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí como te agrade.

Y el dolor por el pecado que en la cruz habrá clavado

a quien inocente fue.

The Eighth Station

Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how the women, seeing Jesus so distressed and dripping with blood as He walked along, wept with compassion for Him. But Jesus said to them, “Weep not for me, but for your chil-dren.” Lector: There was following Jesus a great crowd of people, and among them were some women who were bewailing and lamenting him. Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your chil-dren.” (Luke 23:27-28) All: My sorrowful Jesus, I weep for the offenses I have committed because of the punishment I deserve for them, but still more be-cause of the displeasure they have given you, who has loved me so much. It is your love more than the fear of hell that makes me weep for my sins. My Jesus, I love you more than myself. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will

For the sins of His own nation she saw Him hang in desolation

till His spirit forth He sent

Octava Estación

Jesús habla a las mujeres de Jerusalén

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo algunas piadosas mujeres, viendo a Jesús en estado tan lastimoso, que iba derramando su sangre por el camino, lloraban de compasión; mas Jesús les dijo: no llores por mí, sino por ustedes mismas y por sus hijos. Lector: Lo seguían muchísima gente, especialmente mujeres que se golpeaban el pecho y se lamentaban por él. Jesús, volviéndose hacia ellas, les dijo: “Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloren por mí. Lloren más bien por ustedes mismas y por sus hijos.” (Lucas 23:27-28) Todos: Afligido Jesús mío: lloro por las ofensas que te he hecho, por los castigos que me he merecido, pero mucho más por el dis-gusto que te he dado, y por el amor tan ardiente que me has amado. No es tanto el miedo al Infierno, como por tu amor, el que me hace llorar mis pecados. Te amo, ¡Oh Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a separarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí como te agrade.

Las angustias que sufría Cristo en cruz, ¿quién osaría

con su madre compartir?

The Ninth Station

Jesus falls a third time

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how Jesus Christ, weak and exhausted, fell for the third time, while the cruel executioners tried to make Him walk faster, though He hardly had strength to move. Lector: I lie prostrate in the dust; give me life according to your word. I declared my ways, and you answered me; teach me your commands. Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous deeds. My soul weeps for sor-row; strengthen me with your words. (Psalms 118:25-28) All: Outraged Jesus, because of the weakness you suffered on the way to Calvary, give me enough strength to overcome all human respect and all my vicious inclinations, which have led me in the past to despise your friendship. I love you, Jesus, my love, with all my heart. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will.

O sweet Mother! font of love, touch my spirit from above,

make my heart with yours accord.

Novena Estación

Jesús cae por tercera vez

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera la tercera caída de Jesucristo. Débil y exhausto, callo por tercera vez, y la excesiva crueldad de los verdugos, querían hacerle apresurar el paso, cuando apenas le quedaba aliento para moverse. Lector: Mi alma está adherida al polvo, vivifícame conforme a tu palabra. Te expuse mis proyectos y me respondiste: enséñame tus preceptos. Haz que tome el camino de tus ordenanzas para que medite tus maravillas. Mi alma está deprimida de pesar, levánta-me de acuerdo a tu palabra. (Salmo 119:25-28) Todos: Atormentado Jesús mío: por los méritos de tu debilidad que quisiste padecer en tu camino al Calvario, dame la fortaleza necesaria para vencer los respetos humanos y todos mis desorde-nados y perversos apetitos, que me han hecho despreciar tu amis-tad. The Tenth Station

Jesus is stripped of his clothes

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how Jesus, in being stripped by the execution-ers, had His garments pulled off so roughly that his lacerated flesh was torn away with the cloth to which it adhered. Lector: They gave Jesus wine to drink mixed with gall; but when he had tasted it, he would not drink. Then after they had crucified him, they divided his clothes, casting lots, to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet, “They divided my clothes among them, and upon my garments they cast lots.” (Matthew 27:34-35) All: My innocent Jesus, because of the pain you suffered then, help me to strip myself of all affection for the things of earth, that I may place all my love in you, who are more than worthy of all my love. I love you with my whole heart. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may love you, and then do with me what you will.

Make me feel as you have felt; make my soul to glow and melt

with the love of Christ, my Lord.

Jesús es despojado de sus vestiduras

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Lector: Le dieron a beber vino mezclado con hiel. Jesús lo probó, pero no lo quiso beber. Allí lo crucificaron y después se repartieron entre ellos la ropa de Jesús, echándola a suertes. (Mateo 27:34-35) Todos: Inocente Jesús mío: por los méritos del dolor que entonces su-friste, ayúdame a despojarme de todos los afectos de cosas terrenas para que pueda yo poner todo mi amor en Ti, que tan digno eres de ser amado. The Eleventh Station

Jesus is nailed to the cross

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how Jesus, thrown down on the cross, stretched out His arm and offered to His Father the sacrifice of His life for our salvation. Then they nailed His hands and feet, raised the cross, and left Him to die in anguish. Lector: When they came to Golgotha, the place called the Skull, they crucified Jesus and the robbers, one on his right, and the other on his left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:23-34, John 19:18) All: My despised Jesus, nail this heart of mine to your feet, so that I may always remain there to love you and never leave you again. I love you more than myself. I am sorry that I have offend-ed you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will.

Holy Mother, pierce me through, in my heart each wound renew

Jesús es clavado a la cruz

Líder: Considera cómo Jesús, tendido sobre la Cruz, extiende sus pies y manos y ofrece al Eterno Padre el sacrificio de su vida por nuestra salvación; lo clavan aquellos despiadados verdugos y, después, levantan la Cruz en alto dejándole morir de dolor sobre aquel patíbulo infame. Lector: Al llegar al lugar llamado de la Calavera, lo crucificaron allí, y con él a los malhechores, uno a su derecha y el otro a su izquierda. Mientras tanto Jesús decía: “Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen.” (Lucas 23:33-34; Juan 19:18) Todos: Oh despreciado Jesús mío. Clava mi corazón a tus pies para que quede siempre ahí amándote y no te deje más. Jesus dies on the Cross

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how your Jesus, after three hours of agony on the cross, finally overwhelmed with sufferings, let His body go, bows his head, and dies. Lector: It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And the sun was dark-ened, and the curtain of the temple was torn in the middle. Jesus cried out with a loud voice and said, “It is finished. Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” Then, bowing his head, he died. (Luke 23:44-46, John 19:30b) All: O my loving Jesus, I tenderly kiss this cross on which you died for me. I deserve, because of my sins, to die a miserable death. But your death is my hope. By the merits of your death, give me the grace to die, embracing your feet and burning with love of you. Into your hands I commend my soul. I love you with all my heart. I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will.

Let me share with you His pain, who for all our sins was slain, who for me in torments died.

Jesús muere en la cruz

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo Jesús, después de tres horas de agonía, consumido de dolores y exhausto de fuerzas su cuerpo, inclina la cabeza y expira en la Cruz. Lector: Hacia el mediodía se ocultó el sol y todo el país quedó en tinieblas hasta las tres de la tarde. En ese momento la Cortina del Templo se rasgó por la mitad, y Jesús gritó muy fuerte: “Padre, en tus mano encomiendo mi espíritu.” Y dichas estas palabras, expiró. (Lucas 23:44-46; Juan 19:30b) Todos: Oh mi amado Jesús, beso enternecido esta Cruz en la que moriste por mi. Yo, merecía una muerte miserable por mis peca-dos, pero tu muerte es mi esperanza. Ea, pues, Señor, por los mé-ritos de tu santísima muerte, concédeme la gracia de morir abra-zado a tus pies y consumido por tu amor. En tus manos enco-miendo mi alma. Junto al pie de la Santa Cruz que del Hijo el cuerpo aguanta

con dolor su Madre está.

The Thirteenth Station

The body of Jesus is taken down

from the Cross

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how our Lord, after He had died, was taken down from the cross by two of His disciples, Joseph and Nicode-mus, and laid in the arms of His afflicted Mother, who held Him tenderly. Lector: When the soldiers came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead so that they did not break his legs, but one of them opened his side with a lance, and immediately there came out blood and water. Joseph of Arimathea, because he was a disciple of Jesus (although a secret one for fear of the Jews), besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave permission. (John 19:33-34, 38a) All: O Mother of sorrow, for the love of this Son, accept me as your servant and pray to Him for me. And you, my Redeemer, since for me you died, allow me to love you, for I want you alone and nothing more. I love you, my Jesus, and I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me what you will.

Let me mingle tears with you, mourning him who mourned for me,

all the days that I may live.

Jesús es bajado de la cruz

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo habiendo expirado ya el Señor, lo bajaron de la Cruz dos de sus discípulos: José y Nicodemo, y lo deposita-ron en los brazos de su afligida Madre, María, que lo recibió con ternura y lo estrechó contra su pecho traspasado de dolor. Lector: Fueron, pues, los soldados y quebraron las piernas de los dos que habían sido crucificados con Jesús. Pero al llegar a Jesús vieron que ya estaba muerto, y no le quebraron las piernas, sino que uno de los soldados le abrió el costado con la lanza, y al ins-tante salió sangre y agua. José de Arimatea se presentó a Pilato. Era discípulo de Jesús, pero no lo decía por miedo a los judíos. Pidió a Pilato la autorización para retirar el cuerpo de Jesús, y Pilato se la concedió. (Juan 19:33-34, 38a) Todos: Oh Madre afligida, por el amor de tu Hijo, admíteme por tu siervo y ruega por mí. Y Tú, Redentor mío, ya que has querido morir por mí, recíbeme en el número de los que te aman verdade-ramente, pues yo no quiero amar nada fuera de Ti. Te amo, ¡Oh Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a separarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí como te agrade.

¿Qué pesar se igualaría a la pena de María

al mirarle agonizar?

The Fourteenth Station

Jesus is laid in the tomb

V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you R. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world Presider: Consider how the disciples carried away our Lord’s body for burial, while His holy Mother went with them and ar-ranged it in the sepulcher with her own hands. They then closed the tomb, and withdrew. Lector: Joseph of Arimathea took the body of Jesus, and wrap-ping it in a clean linen cloth he laid it in his new tomb, which he had hewn out of rock. Then he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and departed. (Matthew 27:59-60) All: O my buried Jesus, I kiss this stone that encloses you. But you rose from there on the third day. I beg you, by your resurrec-tion, to make me rise with you in glory on the last day, so that I may always be united with you in heaven, to praise you and love you forever. I love you and I am sorry that I have offended you. Never let me offend you again. Grant that I may love you, and then do with me what you will.

By the cross with you to stay, there with you to weep and pray,

is all I ask of you to give.

Jesús es colocado en el sepulcro

V. Te adoramos, Cristo, y te bendecimos R. Que por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. Líder: Considera cómo los discípulos llevaron a enterrar a Jesús, acompañando también a su Santísima Madre, que lo depositó en el sepulcro con sus propias manos. Después cerraron la puerta del sepulcro y se retiraron. Lector: José tomó entonces el cuerpo de Jesús lo envolvió en una sábana limpia y lo colocó en el sepulcro nuevo que se había he-cho excavar en la roca. Después hizo rodar una gran piedra sobre la entrada del sepulcro y se fue. (Mateo 27:59-60) Todos: Oh Jesús mío sepultado. Beso esa losa que te encierra. Tú resucitaste después de tres días; por tu resurrección te pido y te suplico que me hagas resucitar glorioso en el día del juicio final para estar eternamente contigo en la Gloria amándote y bendi-ciéndote. Te amo, ¡Oh Jesús, amor mío!, más que a mí mismo, y me arrepiento de todo corazón de haberte ofendido; no permitas que vuelva a separarme de Ti otra vez; haz que te ame siempre y dispón de mí como te agrade.

En supremo sacrificio participa del suplicio y la angustia de Jesús.
