Starting out on BAPPAt Middlesex University
ByRebecca Jane Gaskell
My Initial thoughts, aspirations and Questions
• I felt quite apprehensive as its been five years since I’ve been in a class room environment.
• Distance learning is a very new way of learning for me and I worried that I would feel isolated, would I be able to get the best from the course being so far away?
• What was blogging and could I master the technical side of the course?
• Would I be able to manage my time effectively making sure I gave enough time to the course without my rehearsals and performances being effected?
?
My intentions for BAPP course• I hope to become more comfortable and competent using
networking tools.• I would like to improve my critical voice and observational skills
reflecting on my own work as well as others.• I want to become more disciplined working independently with the
knowledge I gain through blogging and research rather than be ‘spoon fed’ by others.
• I hope to become more confident in my skills and better at promoting myself as a professional.
• I hope I will become more efficient with my time keeping and keep up to date with assignments.
• I intend to stay focused on the tasks ahead and not feel afraid to ask for help when needed.
How I am using this course to support my developing professional practice
• I already feel more confident in my decisions after receiving feed back commenting and interacting with other students. I feel I am finding my inner voice which in turn is helping me to use my critical eye more.
• I have found new ways in which to maximise my professional opportunities using tools such as flickr and blogging which has made me re evaluate the presentation of my professional profile and Cv. Before this course I never knew these tools were available let alone how they could benefit me.
• Blogging is a constant way of seeing new ideas and developing them which I really enjoy. Its a new style of constant brain mapping which helps me use the different points of views to expand my thought processes and keeps me wanting more from myself.
• This course has given me a better idea of the path I want to follow in the future.
What having a degree means to me
• It would show my commitment and determination for self development .
• It shows a progression in my life and means I’m one step closer to teaching at a higher level.
• I hope it will make me appear more experienced to employers therefore more hireable.
Thank you for watching any feedback is much appreciated.
