meal for a needy family. For a $10 donation, you can pick a turkey from the display in back of church and we will purchase a turkey for a designated family. With a $25 donation, a complete meal will be pur-chased for a family that wouldn’t otherwise have a traditional thanksgiving dinner! EDGE SCHEDULE Sunday 9:05-10:20 EDGE Thursday 11/09/2017 6:00 –7:30 EDGE Social night Youth Building on 17th St.

Faith Formation doesn’t end with first Communion, quinceaneras, or Confirmation. Faith Formation begins in the family with the parents as the “first teachers” by their words and Christian example. It continues through prayer, weekly Mass, and Faith communities such as Lifeteen and Edge who partner with the family to foster spiritual growth and knowledge of the faith.

Edge Night This Thursday (11/9/17)

6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Lifeteen Youth learned about the “hard sayings of Jesus” during Life Night and how adhering to those hard sayings can actually bring us closer to Christ. We closed with the veneration of the Cross—the instru-ment of our Salvation .

THE GREATEST AMONG US Whom do you admire? Is it the President of the United States or a movie star or a billionaire? These are people whom the world exalts as great. Like the Pharisees in today’s Gospel, they have places of honor wherever they go. Would you like to follow in their footsteps? The scriptures for today offer different examples for us to follow. Jesus tells us that the greatest among us are the servants. These are the people we are to honor and imitate. We are called to be like Paul, who worked hard to serve the needs of his communities, and Jesus, who gave his life in service to the world.

******************************

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.,

National Vocation Awareness Week! November 5-11, 2017

The Office of Vocations of the Archdiocese of Gal-veston-Houston invites all Catholics to raise

awareness of vocations to the priesthood, diaco-nate, and consecrated life, during the National Vo-cation Awareness Week (NVAW). The NVAW is an

annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promote

vocations through prayer and education

2017 National Vocations Awareness Week Did you know that in our country, compared to 50 years ago, there are 20,00 fewer priest and 130,00 fewer religious sisters? At the same time the catholic population has continued to crow steadily. Many factors have contributed to the decline: growing secularism, a lengthened period of adolescence, atti-tude about celibacy, et. During Vocation Awareness week, please pray that young people in today's society will hear and respond to god's call. And do your part to encourage them to consider the priesthood and religious life.

One Vocation Leads to Another “Let us not forget that Christian marriage is a vocation to holi-ness in the full sense of the word, and that the example of holy parents is the first condition favorable for the flowing of priestly and religious vocations”~ Pope Benedict XVI

Generous Single Life In Christ The church recognizes that some people, for various reasons, are not called or cannot live in vocations such as marriage or consecrated life. Nonetheless, the catechism says “they can contribute greatly to the good of the human family”(#2231). “Some live their situation in the spirit of the Beatitudes, serv-ing God and neighbor in exemplary fashion.” (CCC 1658)

Semana Nacional de Concientización Vocacional

Novembre 5-11, 2017

(CCC 1658)

Stewardship Reflections . . . That we realize putting other’s needs before our own is a sign of maturing as a disciple. “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever hum-bles himself will be exalted.” - Matthew 23:12 Je-sus gave His life to serve, not to be served. Putting other’s needs before our own needs is a sign of be-coming a mature disciple, of following Jesus’ ex-ample. Humility is really a sign of a strength. By putting other’s needs first we declare to the world that we are putting our complete trust in God. When we align our thoughts and actions with God’s plan for us, the result is Joy and Peace.

Reflexiones de Mayordomia . .
