ST. Therese Catholic Church 701 S. Charles G. Seivers Blvd. Clinton, Tennessee 37716 Administrator’s Desk Dear parishioners of St Therese, this week we begin our new time for Masses. Hopefully these changes will give us more opportunity to rest well on Saturdays and more time to be with our family after the early Sunday Mass. This new time will also help especially our volunteer visiting music directors from Knoxville to be able to have enough time to serve us better and also be with their families. I thank all of you who called in to express your honest opinions and approval for the new changes. In today’s gospel from Mark, we read about the daughter of Jairus, who was dying or dead, and intertwined with this story we learn about the unnamed woman with the hemorrhage. Jairus, the father of the little girl, knew how to ‘get around’ Jesus it would seem. He was a VIP in that district; we don’t know if Jesus knew who he was in the society. However, Jesus unhesitatingly went out of his way (literally) for him and for the little girl. Even when news came of the ‘death’ of the girl, those around Jairus tell Jesus not to go to any further trouble. Yet, his faith and trust in what he knew Jesus could do did not stop him from expressing his conviction, because Jesus already told him “Do not be afraid; have faith.” Likewise, when we feel afraid and feel dejected, we too, must have trust in the Lord. Trusting can be difficult sometimes, but on the other hand, it may not require so much talking as a little bit of an action of faith like the woman cured of her hem- orrhage after 12 years in the hands of many doctors without cure. Out of faith, this woman made her way through the huge crowds and touched Jesus with faith. Don’t be mistaken, many probably touched Jesus from that crowd but were not cured, they probably had no intentions. What the woman in our story wants from Jesus is different. She wants her health restored. Before this over- arching goal, everything else about her life fades into insignificance. Therefore, I humbly ask, what are your own intentions for this mass today? What will you want to present to Jesus in Faith? As we enter into the summer months, may we demonstrate our compassion for others by curing and restoring those who are spiritually in need of a new life. We may not be able to raise the dead and cure physically, but we can forgive and restore peace to family members and our neighbors. Thank you for all you do to help our ministry. Administrator’s Desk

Dear parishioners of St Therese, this week we begin our new time for Masses. Hopefully these changes will give us more opportunity to rest well on Saturdays and more time to be with our family after the early Sunday Mass. This new time will also help especially our volunteer visiting music directors from Knoxville to be able to have enough time to serve us better and also be with their families. I thank all of you who called in to express your honest opinions and approval for

the new changes.

However, Jesus unhesitatingly went

out of his way (literally) for him and for the little girl. Even when news came of the ‘death’ of the girl, those around Jairus tell Jesus not to go to any further trouble. Yet, his faith and trust in what he knew Jesus could do did not stop him from expressing his conviction, because Jesus already told him “Do not be afraid; have faith.” Likewise, when we feel afraid and feel dejected, we too,

must have trust in the Lord.

Trusting can be difficult sometimes, but on the other hand, it may not require so much talking as a little bit of an action of faith like the woman cured of her hem-orrhage after 12 years in the hands of many doctors without cure. Out of faith, this woman made her way through the huge crowds and touched Jesus with faith. Don’t be mistaken, many probably touched Jesus from that crowd but were not cured, they probably had no intentions. What the woman in our story wants from Jesus is different. She wants her health restored. Before this over-arching goal, everything else about her life fades into insignificance. Therefore, I humbly ask, what are your own intentions for this mass today? What will you

want to present to Jesus in Faith?

As we enter into the summer months, may we demonstrate our compassion for others by curing and restoring those who are spiritually in need of a new life. We may not be able to raise the dead and cure physically, but we can forgive and restore peace to family members and our neighbors. Thank you for all you

do to help our ministry.

Happy summer vacation!

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

“If I but touch his cloths I will be cured.”

Mark 5:21-43

Many of us learned a valuable lesson in trust

and faith from our parents or grandparents with

a very simple demonstration. They told us to

stand up straight in front of them with our arms

stretched out and instructed us to fall back with-

out bending our knees. It may have taken sever-

al attempts before we finally stayed straight,

fell back and they caught us. They told us we

could always trust them. The disciples of Jesus

witnessed many wonders before they had faith

in him. Mark tells us of a woman who heard

about Jesus and believed that he would cure her

if she just touched his clothes. She managed to

touch his garment and was cured. But Jesus told

her “Your faith has saved you.” He told the

same thing to others who believed in him and

were cured of illness and evil in their lives.

When we believe in the goodness and mercy of

our loving God and His desire that we use all

He has given us to the best of our ability for

ourselves and for others, by imitating Jesus, we

can be confident that He is saying to us “Your

faith has saved you.”
