Our Lady of Lourdes Circle will be meeting at Reno's North June 13th at 1:00pm, for a prayerful meal. Next meeting will be the second Wednesday in September.

We have hired a new Director of Religious

Education for St. Therese Parish. She is Stephanie Smith of

Westphalia. Stephanie is currently a 6th grade teacher at St.

Paul School in Owosso. She will begin her new position at

St. Therese on June 29. Pat Droste will continue as the DRE

until that time. During the month of June, Pat and Stephanie

will work together so that Stephanie can understand her new

position.

Just an update on the Witness to Hope Campaign.

As you recall, our parishioners pledged $967,080 to the

campaign. Disbursements will be made quarterly as

parishioners pay their pledges off. Most members of our

parish made one-time gifts or five year pledges. In April, we

received our first disbursement from the Diocese of Lansing.

It was $96,000. This amount enabled us to put a new roof on

the gym. We’ve started work on the Sacrarium project,

which hopefully will be completed soon. We have begun

work on the new Sound System in Fr. Murray Hall. The

project will take longer than anticipated because there is

some abatement work that needs to be done. Also, we have

decided to add a ceiling projector to the project. This will

enable us to conduct more effective presentations in Fr.

Murray Hall. We have purchased a Zero Turn Lawn Mower.

This is enabling our volunteers to cut our big lawn more

efficiently. The Finance Committee would also like to add

$100,000 to our Educational Endowment Fund. These funds

are used to pay for Religious Education, Youth Ministry and

Adult Education Programs. Thank you to everyone who

contributed to the Witness to Hope Campaign. If you made a

pledge, you will receive reminders from the Diocese of

Lansing.

We are in the process of planning for our annual

raffle drawing which is part of the St. Therese Parish Feast

Day Celebration in the Fall. We are looking for donations of

prizes for the raffle drawing. In the past, parishioners have

donated vacation prizes or gift card collections or wooden

hand-made crafts. If you can donate a prize for this Fall’s

raffle, please contact Sue Benjamin in the Business Office.

Fr. John Fain

St. Michael Men’s Club barbecue will be June 13 at 2:30 PM followed by a short meeting afterwards at the home of Dennis Howland.

Many thanks to all of you who took part in my retirement parties on Sunday. Everything from the lovely reception, being wished well by so many of you, and the many cards and gifts I received are very heartfelt. I am so thankful. God bless all of you.

Pat Droste

available for you to take to the street corners of Lansing! You

will find the list of items at each of the exits.

“Let the children come to me.” (Matt 19:14) We are doing just that and….. the success of our Open Doors Tutoring Program has created the need for more Tutors! What does success look like, you ask?

Kids are growing in the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their own classrooms and homes

Kids are having fun

Kids are being loved Would you please consider making yourself available to our growing population of kids? And we still could use snacks and drinks for the little ones, too. Please contact Leslie Ozanich, Katie Rios or Dave Borzenski; we’ll show you what a difference YOU can make.

Just Neighbors summer picnic on Wednesday, June 27 beginning at 5:00 pm at Hildebrandt Park Housing Community playground (gather at St. Therese playground first). Stay tuned for more details. Also, put on your calendars, (change alert!!) Wednesday July 25 and Wednesday, August 15.

The Giving Tree Farm can still use more of your flats and trays and

pots after you have planted your own garden! A container is

set out for them at the southeast corner of the Parish Garage

(near the Food Pantry) until Father’s Day (next weekend), June

17. The disabled who assist at the Farm will re-use them with

amazing results! Thank you!

Our Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Let us (this is everyone’s responsibility) get some more Inquirers NOW, please!!! Though it’s never not the time, please be particularly watchful now for those around you (family, neighbors, friends, workmates) who question about: Jesus, God, life, faith, spirituality, Catholicism. THESE are Inquirers who might appreciate knowing that they are not alone in their search for answers.

Our Adult Faith Formation Even though we enter “Ordinary”/Counted Time again, Sundays are anything but “ordinary;” we are anything but “ordinary!” We have plenty to share when we invite others to ReConnect to the Body of Christ. Just look at what our community of faith has in store for those who want to return to a relationship with Jesus Christ through St. Therese of Lisieux Parish.

SVDP NEWS

There is a Greater Lansing Food Bank delivery on Monday, June 11th around 8:00 a.m. Please come and help us put the food on the shelves and in the freezers. Thank you so much for your continued support of our food pantry!

Please help us keep our pantry stocked with cereal. The need for cereal will continue throughout the summer months with the kids out of school. No school means many children will have less access to school breakfast and lunch programs. Please be as generous as you can! Thanks in advance for your support!

Task Force on Race and Catholic Schools

The public is invited and welcome to attend the next and final listening session and meeting of the Diocese of Lansing Task Force on Race and Catholic Schools at 5:00pm, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at St Thomas Aquinas Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing.

The task force is a racially and ethnically diverse group comprising appointees from around the diocese. Bishop Boyea has asked the members of the Task Force to listen to all diocesan Catholic School constituents – students, families, faculty, and staff – on the matter of race and Catholic schools.

Bishop Boyea expects the task force to develop and deliver to him a set of recommendations later this year, in accordance with Catholic social teaching about how Diocese of Lansing Catholic Schools can better understand the needs of racial and ethnic communities in the context of the community of God, which gives meaning and substance to each of us and our relationship with each other, as Jesus made clear.
