Happy Mother’s

Day

A Mother’s Reflection This Mother’s Day finds us in a different time. One we could not have imagined a year ago. For most mothers, there have been struggles as we try to try to balance home life, work life, prayer life and our own fears. Perhaps we can't see our own mothers at this time, or we are away from our children for the first time, or our mothers are no longer with us.

On Mother’s Day, let us remember the gift of motherhood and the blessing that our own mothers provide. Let us turn to Jesus' mother, Mary, as a source of comfort and guidance.

May this Mother’s Day be filled with the love of family (even if it’s virtually!) and the confi-dence that our Mother Mary will intercede for us in our time of need.

Updates on Upcoming

Ordinations

After considering various options, the

archdiocese has decided to go forward

with the ordinations to the priesthood

and transitional diaconate on the origi-

nal dates. The ordinations will be re-

stricted to a very small number of

attendees, and unfortunately will not

be public events.

The transitional diaconate ordination

will be on May 16 at 10:30 a.m. The

priesthood ordination will be on May 23

at 10:30 a.m. Both ordinations will be

held at the Cathedral and will be live-

streamed on the Archdiocesan site

(livestream.com/archkck.org)

Please keep the men to be ordained in

your prayers.

Pray the Rosary

Pope Francis is reminding the faithful that during the pandem-

ic a powerful spiritual weapon is the Rosary. In a letter sent to

the faithful, the Holy Father urges the praying of the Rosary

during May, a month where families traditionally turn to the

prayer and offer particular devotion to the Mother of God.

pray the Rosary with School of Faith each day!

Consecration to Mary On May 1, bishops from the US and Canada renewed the

consecrations of the two nations to the care of our Blessed

Mother. Through a collective dedication or entrustment of a

nation to Mary, an act of consecration is meant to be a re-

minder to the faithful of the Blessed Mother’s witness to the

Gospel and to ask for her effective intercession before her

Son on behalf of those in need (USCCB).

See Fr. Weger’s video with more info about the Conse-

cration to Mary at stmichaelcp.org.

Prayer to the Mother of the Lord

for all Mothers

Mary, on this day when we honor all mothers, we turn to you.

We thank the Lord whom you serve for the great gift of moth-

erhood. Never has it been known that anyone who sought

your intercession was left unaided by grace. Dear Mother,

thank you for your "Yes" to the invitation of the angel which

brought heaven to earth and changed human history. You

opened yourself to God's word and the Word was made flesh

and dwelt among us.

Dear Mother, intercede for all of our mothers. Ask your Di-

vine Son to give them the grace of surrendered love so that

they could join with you in giving their own "Fiat." May they

find daily strength to say yes to the call to the sacrificial love -

the very heart of the vocation of motherhood. May their love

and witness be a source of great inspiration for all of us

called to follow your Son.

On this Mother’s Day, Mother of the Word Incarnate, pray for

us who have recourse to you...

In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. (Prayer from catholic.org)

Goodbye Mr. C - Thank you!

On behalf of the teachers, school and parish staff, and all

parishioners, I want to extend heart felt gratitude to Mr. Mike

Cullinan for serving as the principal of our parish school for

the past 17 years. From day one, Mr. C has been passion-

ate about the ultimate mission of our school: guiding our

children to heaven! We will miss his daily reminders to “Be

nice, work hard, and take care of each other today,” and to,

“Do your homework, brush your teeth, say your prayers and

hug your parents.”

Mr. C, we will miss you.

God bless you in your retirement!

Fr. Brian

A question to share at the dinner table:

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. Take a few minutes to write down what you love about our Blessed Mother Mary. Then, share your an-swers with those around you. Now, take a few mo-ments to let your own mother

know what you love and appreciate about her.

Wyandotte and Olathe Pregnancy Centers are taking their Ba-

by Bottle Campaign virtual this year! During this time of the

Covid 19 crisis, your prayers and financial support are needed

more than ever to assist them in carrying out their mission of

supporting women and families facing unplanned pregnancies.

Together, we can continue to share God's truth while showing

His Love to men and women in our community facing un-

planned pregnancies. To make a donation, go to

stmichaelcp.org/donations-payments and click the Virtual Baby

Bottle Drive link.
