You may sign up for an hour of adoration on the clipboard in the back of the church.

St. Mary’s/St. Patrick’s now has a live website. Check it out at http://smspwilmington.com/. The long-standing practice in the American Church is to conduct the collection for Black and Indian Missions on the third weekend of February. Somehow St. Patrick’s envelope set put the collection on this weekend. If you have brought an envelope for this second collection, please place it in the basket at the time of the regular collection. There will be no second collection.

Dear Members and Friends of St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s: On this second Sunday in Lent the Church pauses to reflect on the glory of the risen Christ, anticipated during his ministry when he was transfigured in the presence of Peter, James and John. From this point in the Gospels Jesus turns his face to Jerusalem, to another mountain, Calvary. There his figure will be distorted by suffering and death, but the one who dies is the one the Father acknowledges as his beloved Son. On the cross his glory is hidden but still real. The transfigured Christ will pass through death to the glory of the resurrection. With him we continue our Lenten journey from the mount of the Transfiguration to the celebration of Christ’s Passover from death to life. Because of my assignment at the Cathedral, we will observe Christ’s Passover, the Sacred Triduum, this year at other locations. The Mass of the Lord’s Supper for Holy Thursday will be celebrated at 7:00 PM at St. Peter’s Cathedral with Bishop Malooly presiding. The Bishop will also preside at the Good Friday Liturgy at 3:00 PM the next day. Stations of the Cross will be prayed at St. Patrick’s at 7:00 PM on Good Friday. The Easter Vigil will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s at 8:00 PM on Holy Saturday, again with the bishop presiding, and we will be joined there by Christ Our King and St. Joseph’s. While this is in some ways a jarring change, it will give us the opportunity to celebrate these wonderful liturgies with a larger congregation. I hope that you will all take the opportunity to participate. (And don’t worry about parking around the Cathedral. There were over 300 for Christmas Eve mass and it worked out fine.) Easter Sunday morning mass schedule will be as on every other Sunday. May God assist you toward a renewing and holy Lent. Fr. Klein All during Lent we will use the Eucharistic response “Save us, Savior of the World.” READINGS FOR THE WEEK Monday: Dn 9:4b-10; Ps 79:8, 9, 11, 13; Lk 6:36-38 Tuesday: Is 1:10, 16-20; Ps 50:8-9, 16bc-17, 21, 23; Mt 23:1-12 Wednesday: Jer 18:18-20; Ps 31:5-6, 14-16; Mt 20:17-28 Thursday: Jer 17:5-10; Ps 1:1-4, 6; Lk 16:19-31 Friday: Gn 37:3-4, 12-13a; 17b-28a; Ps 105:16-21; Mt 21:33-43, 45-46 Saturday: Mi 7:14-15, 18-20; Ps 103:1-4, 9-12; Lk 15:1-3, 11-32 Sunday: Ex 3:1-8a, 13-15; Ps 103:1-4, 6-8, 11; 1 Cor 10:1-6, 10-12; Lk 13:1-9 Alternate readings (Year A): Ex 17:3-7; Ps 95:1-2, 6-9; Rom 5:1-2, 5-8; Jn 4:5-42 [5-15, 19b-26, 39a, 40-42] SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Second Sunday of Lent; Penitential Rite for Candidates for Full Communion Friday: World Day of Prayer; First Friday; Abstinence Saturday: First Saturday
