I Heard My Brother Crying

Some years ago in a small village in the Midwest, a little twelve-year old girl named Terri was babysitting her little brother. Terri walked outside to check the mail. As she turned back from the mailbox, she couldn’t believe her eyes. The house was on fire. Soon the little house was enveloped in flames.

Terri ran as fast as she could into the flaming house only to find her baby brother trapped by a burning rafter which had fallen and pinned him to the floor. Hurriedly, Terri worked to free her brother. She had trouble getting him loose as the flames were dancing around their heads. Finally, she freed him. She picked him up and quickly took him outside and revived him just as the roof of the house caved in.

By this time, firemen were on the scene and the neighbors had gathered outside the smoldering remains of the house. The neighbors had been too frightened to go inside or to do anything to help, and they were tremendously impressed with the courage of the twelve-year old girl. They congratulated her for her heroic efforts and said, “Terri, you are so very brave. Weren’t you scared? What were you thinking about when you ran into the burning house?” She said, “I wasn’t thinking about anything. I just heard my little brother crying.” I love Terri’s answer.

Let me ask you something: How long has it been? How long has it been since you heard your brother or sister crying? How long has it been since you stopped and did something about it?

¡Trigésimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario!

La Solemnidad de todos los Santos se celebra

el próximo 1 de noviembre. Después de casi un

mes de ver abundantes anuncios para la

preparación del Halloween.

Pero hay algo que no va en ese sentido pa-

gano, y son los días de todos los Santos y de

todos los fieles Difuntos no son otra cosa que

días vibrantes de celebración en la parroquia y

en la escuela católica.

Quizá la escuela católica y aquellos colegios

confiados a la enseñanza de la doctrina católica

pueden tratar al mes de octubre como algo

más que un largo mes para celebrar Hallow-

een, es prepararnos para estas dos grandes cel-

ebraciones: La solemnidad de todos los Santos

y la Conmemoración de todos los Fieles Difun-

tos.

Los quiero, reciban mi bendición y no se les

olvide orar por mí.

Students will be attending Mass on Thursday, All Saints Day, and again on Friday for the regular children’s Mass. We ask that students wear uniforms both days. In honor of Día De Los Muertos, Day of the Dead, students will once again be creating a “Day of the Dead Altar.” Students and adults are encour-

aged to bring pictures or mementos of those they have lost to be placed on the altar. On Friday, November 9, St. Mary’s School will be honoring those who have served our country. Everyone is welcome to join us for 8:15 Mass fol-lowed by the annual Veterans Day Program, coffee and cookies. Thank you to the Marie and Jason Johnson fami-ly and the Mike and Mary Pavelko family for participating in the October SMS Family Mass.

MARTY DINNER NOV 18, We are in need of 20 20-to-22 lb turkeys. If someone only wants to pay for a turkey but can't roast it, we will find someone to roast it. We will need unroasted turkeys by no later than Tuesday, Nov 13. If you can roast it and carve it, that will help. You can make it ahead of time and freeze it. We also need 20 regular cans of cranberries, 8 dozen smaller dinner rolls, 10 lbs of butter, 25 packages of chicken or turkey gravy, and 2 very large jars of chicken broth powder to be mixed with water. If someone wants to give money toward supplies, that would also help. Thank you.

Felicitamos a todos los catequistas de nuestra parroquia de “Santa María” por conmemorarse el “día del catequista”, cuya fiesta se celebró en el día de su santo patrono “San Antonio María Claret” el pasado 24 de oc-tubre, pero hoy nuestra parroquia lo celebra con todos sus catequistas en la Eucaristía de las 11:00 a.m. Hoy tenemos la grata visita de nuestro Obispo diocesano Mons. John Quinn, quien estará presidiendo la Eucaristía de las confirmaciones a las 9:00 a.m. desde ya felicitamos a todos los jóvenes que recibirán en plenitud el Espíritu Santo. No lo olvidemos, todos los jueves, son jueves de adoración, tenemos la exposición del Santísimo Sacramento du-rante todo el día y a la 6:30 p.m. la Hora Santa. El próximo miércoles 31 de octubre, no vamos a tener las clases de formación y fe. Hoy domingo, 28 de octubre, comenzaremos los 46 rosarios en honor a la Virgen de Guadalupe, las personas que quieran anotarse para un rosario, favor de registrarse con la Sra. Albina, ella estará en la puerta principal recibiendo sus nombres y dirección. El próximo domingo 4 de noviembre, empezaremos a recibir las donaciones para la fiesta de la Virgen de Guada-lupe. Fiesta que celebraremos por todo lo alto con una precesión en la víspera de la fiesta y una linda Eucaristía el 9 de diciembre a las 11:00 a.m. El comité de pro-fiesta de la Virgen ha organizado una venta de pupusas para este domingo 4 de noviembre en el garaje de la rectoría al terminar la Eucaristía de 11:00 a.m. desde ya les agradecemos su colaboración. Como todos los domingos, hoy tenemos nuestro grupo de oración “Corazón Inmaculado de María” a partir de las 4:00 p.m. El 1 de noviembre es la Solemnidad de todos los Santos, como parroquia vamos a celebrarlo con los niños de la catequesis y demás niños, el domingo 4 de noviembre; Invitamos a los padres de familia traer a sus hijos vestidos del Santo de su devoción. Ejemplo: Niño Jesús, Ángel de la Guarda, San José, entre otros. Al final de la misa, com-partiremos una piñata en el gym de nuestra escuela parroquial. La Misa del 1 de noviembre será a las 7:00 p.m. le recordamos a toda la comunidad que es misa de precepto, es decir la Iglesia lo presenta de carácter obligatorio. Participemos todos de esta gran celebración. El 2 de noviembre es la conmemoración de todos los fieles difuntos, por lo tanto pedimos a los familiares los nom-bres de sus seres queridos, para ponerlos en el altar de muertos del templo parroquial. Favor de entregar estos nombres ante del 31 de octubre, en el despacho parroquial. La misa la celebraremos a las 7:00 p.m. Le agradecemos al PROINE, el servicio comunitario, en pro del ornato y embellecimiento de nuestro templo par-roquial. Dios los bendiga. El próximo sábado 3 de noviembre, el ministerio de alabanza “Siervos de Cristo” celebra su cumpleaños, un año más de servicio a Dios y al pueblo cristiano.
