Dear Friends, May the Feast of the Epiphany bring you great joy! The visitors to Jesus came from different cultures and life experiences – they were drawn to Jesus. There was adversity and yet they came to him.

Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another route. Mt 2:12

As the Christmas season comes to an end, what route will we choose in the days and weeks ahead? Our world tends to divide people along many lines, especially the weak from the powerful. The Feast of the Epiph-any challenges us that God’s revelation is for all people. There is no prejudice or exclusion in God’s plan. God’s will for humanity is unity—that all may be one. This manifestation of God has yet to be fully embraced by the global community, and there are those still threatened by it. Let us think of it as a revelation of the plan of God for the salvation of the world, without exception. As we choose a new route, let us bring gifts of peace, love and gratitude. May God bless you! Watercolor Classes - VALUE with Marie Natale

“Color gets all the credit…Value does all the work” Van Gogh

January 5, 12, 19, 26, February 2 & 9, 2017 This is a great way to get back to painting in watercolor after our Holiday break....a continuation for those who have attend-ed my classes before - an exciting, loose and colorful ap-proach for my new students. 2016 ended with color theory, understanding its importance in conveying the story of a paint-ing. In the new year, the 10:30 AM advanced class will focus on new themes choosing sub-jects with a strong sense of VALUE—lights and darks in a painting- Landscape, Still Life, Buildings, Skies, People, etc. Stu-dents will complete a value chart using Grafix Clear-Lay Red plastic sheets which gives a clear reading of values ranges in a photo, providing a better sense of color choices for a painting! Details will be sent prior to the class start on January 5. The beginners class at 2:00 PM will focus on repeating Water-color Basics....brushwork, ratios of water and pigment, under-standing the importance of the bead of paint..... and utilizing each basic in accomplishing effective, clean and luminous wa-tercolors! We discuss the importance of good paper, paints and supplies, setting up your palettes, and good brushes...all important for successful paintings! Students will also prepare a value chart as mentioned above. All the classes will be informative, inspiring, and will help to loosen up your approach to watercolor! Most importantly, stu-dents attain confidence when selecting color and going for the strong values to make their paintings work! Besides…my classes are always FUN!! NEW Class times: 10:30 AM-1:00 PM and 2:00-4:30 PM. Limited to 15 students in each class. Beginners encouraged to attend the later class (2:00-4:30 PM). Class begins promptly at 10:30 AM or 2:00 PM.....class ends 15 minutes early to clean up work spaces.
