It is notified for the information of all concerned candidates who have applied for the posts of Assistant Floriculture Officer in Bureau of Public Enterprise and Floriculture Department in response to Notification No.01-PSC(DR-P) of 2014 dated:22.01.2014, that in view of large number of candidates who have applied against the said notification the J&K Public Service Commission is going to conduct a Screening Test to Short List candidates for interview, for which the detailed syllabus is notified.

Principles of plant physiology with reference to plant nutrition, absorption, translocation and metabolism of nutrients, Diagnosis of nutrient deficiencies and their amelioration photosynthesis and respiration, growth and development auxins and hormones in plant growth.

Elements of Genetics and plant breeding as applied to improvement of crops; development of plant hybrids and composites, important varieties, hybrids and composites of major crops.

Important fruit and vegetable crops of India, the package of practices and their scientific basis, crop rotations, intercropping, and companion crops, role of fruits and vegetables in human nutrition; post harvest handling and processing of fruits and vegetables.

Serious pests and diseases affecting major crops. Principles of pest control, integrated control of pests and diseases; proper use and maintenance of plant protection equipments.

Principles of economics as applied to agriculture.Farm planning and resource management for optimal Production. Farming system and,

their role in regional economies.Philosophy objectives and Principles of extension. Extension organisation at the

State District and block levels their structure, functions and responsibilities. Methods of Communication, Role of farm organizations in extension service.”

Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting held at KVK-Kulgam

The SAC meeting of KVK-Kulgam was held on 31st of December,2014 under the chairmanship of Prof. Tej Partap, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir. Action Taken Report on the recommendations of previous SAC meeting and Annual Progress Report 2014-15 were presented by Programme Coordinator, Dr. Tasneem Mubarak. Annual Action Plan for the year 2015-16 was also discussed. The work done by the KVk team was highly appreciated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Worthy Director Extension,Prof.Afifa S.Kamli and all other members of the Committee. After receiving feedback from the officers of Line Department and progressive farmers, Direct Extension stressed on the popularize technologies which improve the farmers income, better market linkage services, awareness on climate change and value addition of fruits and vegetables. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor desired that all stake holders should work together for mass multiplication of quality planting material especially grafted walnut which has great demand. He also stressed on development of location specific Integrated Farming Models and revival of niche crops like Mushkebudjiand Kamad rice and local Chilli. He also desired that the impact of technologies transferred by the KVK need to be documented. In the end Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor once again appreciated the KVK team and expressed satisfaction over the activities carried out by the Kendra.
