Hello and welcome to the Student Radio Conference 2012.

As one of the oldest student radio stations in the country, RamAir 1350AM and the University of Bradford is proud to host this year’s conference and we hope you enjoy your time whilst at the University of Bradford.

The conference is split between our two main buildings. In the Richmond Building will be the daytime sessions and seminars and lunches and dinners and in Student Central, home to RamAir and our Students’ Union, will be all our evening events and the recording for the Voice of the Awards. Whilst down at the station we’d love to have a chat with you to swap ideas on the great things we all do through student radio.

RamAir 1350AM has gone from strength to strength recently with our newly refurbished studios in the Student Central building providing us with even better facilities and a more central position in the Students’ Union building and our hosting of the conference will join our portfolio of recent events covered from the local election hustings to big comedy nights, and our annual 48-hour show event.

Alongside the excellent sessions and evening entertainments we invite you to check out our radio station, shop and bar facilities and campus areas such as our amphitheatre (perfect during great weather!) and perhaps enjoy some other great attractions in the local area including the new City Park and the National Media Museum.

So again welcome to Bradford and to RamAir and we hope you have a fantastic few days here this April!

Phil LickleyMedia and Marketing Co-ordinator

I’m thrilled to welcome you all to the 2012 National Student Radio Conference, an event that keeps growing every single year! This year we have had a record number of people attend the conference so thank you very much for coming along.

We have spent the last few months striving to make this year’s event as exciting and interesting as is possible. However we are truly indebted for a handful of good friends and colleagues who have helped us a great deal along the way. Our thanks goes out to Chris North and John Lawley at Wise Buddah, Neil Sloan at BBC Radio 1, Paul Fernley at Bauer, Sam Gregory at Round2Creative, Dave Cribb at BBC Radio 5 Live, Paul Sylvester at Absolute Radio, and Chris Stevens at GMG. Finally we’d like to thank Alex Duffy from The Pulse. The Pulse is a commercial station local to Bradford and part of UTV Media. All the above have helped us secure speakers and have been instrumental in ensuring that this years conference lives up to expectations.

I’d also like to thank all of the speakers and exhibitors that you will see over the next few days - too many to mention but they have all taken time out of their normal work to come and share experiences with us, and for that we are grateful.

I’m delighted that we have a team from RadioToday.co.uk joining us. They will be able to keep you right up to date on any sessions that you may have missed, with interviews with speakers and perhaps YOU!

Finally, a massive thank you to our hosts, RamAir 1350am, particularly Phil Lickley. Who has been fantastic in the lead up to the conference and we know they will be fantastic hosts. We hope you enjoy it, and be sure to come and say ‘hello’!!

Fred Bradley, SRA Chair
