Uniform Complaint proCedUreFor students, employees, parents/guardians, school anddistrict advisory committee members, appropriate privateschool officials, and other: The Whittier Union High SchoolDistrict has primary responsibility for insuring that it complieswith state and federal laws and regulations governingeducational programs and has established procedures toaddress allegations of unlawful discrimination, harassment,intimidation, and bullying and complaints alleging violation ofstate and federal laws governing educational programs andthe charging of unlawful pupil fees and the non-compliance ofour Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The districtshall investigate and seek to resolve complaints using policiesand procedures known as the Uniform Complaint Procedures(UCP) adopted by our local board. Unlawful discrimination,harassment, intimidation, or bullying against any protectedgroup as identified in education Code section 200 and 220 andGovernment code section 11135, including any actual orperceived characteristics as set forth in Penal Code section422.55 or on the basis or a person’s association with a personor group with one or more of these actual or perceivedcharacteristics in any program or activity conducted by theLEA, which is funded directly by, or that receives or benefitsfrom any state financial assistance. The UCP process shallalso be used when addressing complaints alleging failure tocomply with state or federal program laws in Adult Education,After School Education and Safety, Compensatory Education,Course Periods Without Educational Content, English LearnerPrograms, Every Student Succeeds Act / No Child LeftBehind, Consolidated Programs, Migrant Education,Career/Technical Education, Foster and Homeless Youth,Local Control Funding formula and Local ControlAccountability Plan, NCLB Titles I-VII, Nutrition Services-USDA Civil Rights, Childcare and Development Programs,Physical Education Instructional Minutes, ReasonableAccommodations to a Lactating Pupil, School Facilities,Special Education Programs, and complaints regarding SafetyPlanning Requirements, Tobacco - Use Prevention Education,Discrimination, Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying andUnlawful Pupil Fees. HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY (HSE)

test eligibility

to be eligible for high schoolequivalency testing you must be18 years of age or older, within 60days of your 18th birthday, or within60 days of when you would havegraduated from high school hadyou remained in school.

California now accepts different testsfor High School Equivalency (HSE).Whittier Adult School will help you pre-pare for the ged or the hiset exam.Both tests are available in either Eng-lish or Spanish. If you are successfulon either of these tests, you will re-ceive a certificate from the state in-dicating that you have the acade-mic knowledge and proficiencyequivalent to those of a high schoolgraduate. Parent Education

Parents and children participate together in a preschool setting. Parents shouldbring a snack for their children each week. Each class meets once a week for tenweeks.
