the position Rice Athletics Marketing is seeking aggressive, self-motivated, detail-oriented and creative students to serve as part-time marketing, sales and game operations interns for the 2013-2014 school year. duties and responsibilities - Assisting with the marketing and promotion of assigned varsity sports to increase awareness, attendance and ticket sales - Developing and implementing marketing and promotional plans for assigned sports & events - Working athletics events to help with in-game promotions, game production and sponsorship execution - Assisting ticket sales staff with generating ticket sales leads - Assisting with various grassroots marketing efforts the department The Rice University Athletics Marketing Department advertises, markets and promotes all 16 intercollegiate sports programs to raise awareness, increase attendance and ticket sales to each athletic event. The marketing office coordinates the in-game production for each event and prepares promotional scripts for the game day staff. In addition, we are concerned with the fan experience and game atmosphere and develop ways to improve each. The marketing department also works in conjunction with the ticket office and ticket sales team to sell tickets and ticket packages to athletic events. Finally, the department oversees the licensing program for the University’s trademarks, logos, advertising and promotional materials. benefits As a member of the Athletics Marketing staff, one will establish a foundation for a career in Sports Marketing, increase his/her knowledge of game promotions and management of different collegiate sports, and gain hands on experience in the sports marketing industry. Students will also gain valuable advertising, public relations, customer service and event marketing/management experience and how it relates to the sports industry.
