About the Conference

Held every year at a different city, and running for over 50 years, the IFFO Annual

Conference is the world’s only conference dedicated to the fishmeal and fish oil

industry, which includes the processing of other marine ingredients, and its value

chain partners.

We are looking forward to a very successful mee ng – one which reflects the

organiser’s strategy of applying science, technology and business analysis to the commercial concerns of the marine

protein and oil sector and the related supply chains; these range from farmed seafood, to land animal and pet food

nutri on as well as the human health omega‐3 market.

About us

IFFO is the interna onal ‘not for profit’ organisa on that represents and

promotes the fishmeal, fish oil and wider marine ingredients industry world-

wide.

We are globally respected and regularly represent the industry at interna‐

onal forums, as well as holding observer status at the UN Food and

Agriculture Organisa on (FAO) and the EU Commission and Parliament.

Ac ng on behalf of the fishmeal and fish oil producers and their trade associates, IFFO works to strengthen the

global standing of the industry, while ensuring sustainable future supplies worldwide. With a network of members

reaching across 60 countries, our members account for over 50% of world produc on and 75% of the fishmeal and

fish oil traded worldwide. While these products are the core of our industry, recent years have seen a widening to

include marine algae cul va on and the produc on of meal and oil from krill. Our members include producers,

traders, feed companies, edible oil refiners, retailers, financial ins tu ons, governmental and non‐governmental

organisa ons.

What we do

● Provide informa on on produc on of marine ingredients

● Analyse and report on changes in market condi ons

● Provide informa on on environmental issues and defend the image of the industry

● Provide an informa on network for Members, including advice from the Secretariat

● Hold conferences and members’ mee ngs as a forum for informa on, educa on, networking, and discussion

about ma ers of importance to the industry

● Provide informa on on current and proposed regula ons affec ng fishmeal and fish oil in different markets

● Promote the benefits of marine ingredients by speaking at interna onal events, publishing ar cles in interna on‐

al trade press and liaising with users, as well as via an interac ve web portal

● Undertake research and development on marine ingredients to make best use of fish nutrients for the health

and welfare of animals and humans

● Advocate for trade liberalisa on to increase the available markets for marine ingredients and seek to remove

unfair tariff or non‐tariff barriers

● Support the Global Standard for Responsible Supply of fishmeal and fish oil (IFFO RS), which offers producers the

opportunity to demonstrate responsible sourcing and responsible produc on and to gain independently‐audited

cer fica on that they have achieved this

Conference Programme

The conference will run for three days from Monday to Wednesday, including a Welcome Recep on and a Gala

Dinner and delivers a sound mix of business related topics and social networking. The professional programme

features speeches by well‐known visi ng speakers from the food retailing, commodity, financial, and fishing worlds,

as well as experts from human and animal nutri on. In addi on there will be interac ve sessions on specialist topics

linked to the conference theme.

Opening Session—This is the best a ended session and your logo will be on shown at

Hotel key cards—Your artwork or logo will be included on the branded key cards which

Session Audio‐Visual Equipment—Your logo will appear on a holding slide in all session

halls during breaks. Some conference sessions will feature an Audience Response

System (or Interac ve Vo ng), in which case your logo would also appear on the screen

while this is in use.

Coffee Breaks—You can provide banners to be shown in the catering areas at all the

coffee points, located near or inside the session rooms which will serve tea, coffee and

water during the programme breaks. You may also supply branded items, subject to

Hospitality Desk—You can run the Hospitality Desk, which will be in a prominent

loca on within the venue. This desk will need to be manned by a concierge who will

Sponsorship packages need to be paid fully by 31st July 2015 with a 10% non‐refundable deposit payable on receipt of

the invoice. If these payment terms, or the packages included in this proposal, do not fit within your current budgetary

structures, please be assured that we will do everything within our power to accommodate your requirements.

Delegate Packs—This is a high profile, much sought a er sponsorship item. The conference will be

supplying each delegate with a delegate pack and your logo will be printed on the front of the

pack alongside the conference logo and event details.

Sta s cal Yearbook— You can include an advert on the full back cover (A5 Size) of the Yearbook,

which is an annual publica on and is the most comprehensive source of sta s cs on the produc‐

on of fishmeal and oil, consump on, prices, compe ng proteins and oils, as well as informa on

about land animals, farmed fish produc on, and feed produc on in the industry. The Yearbook is

included in the delegate packs which are distributed to all conference delegates (and non‐

Andrew Mallison, Director General, U.K. Andrew joined IFFO in 2011 as Director General, taking over from Jonathan Shepherd who re red in December 2011 . Andrew was previously a Director at the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) where he was responsible for standards and licensing, managed global seafood sourcing for Bri sh retailer Marks and Spencer and was an advisor to government ministers. Andrew has a degree in Fisheries Science from the University of Plymouth and has received na onal and interna onal awards for seafood standards.

  Jorge Mora, Opera ons Director, Peru Jorge Mora joined IFFO in January 2006 as Business Administra on Manager and was promoted in April 2009 to Opera ons Director with overall responsibility for members’ services and the day to day running of the organisa on. Prior to joining IFFO Jorge worked for the Water Industry Commission in S rling, Scotland and for Southern Peru Copper Corpora on in Lima, Peru. Jorge holds an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Lima and an MBA from the University of Cambridge.

  Maggie Xu, China Director, China Maggie joined IFFO in October 2011 as the China Manager and was promoted in October 2013 to China Director. She was previously a Trade Commissioner responsible for fish, seafood, meat and processed food and beverage products at the Embassy of Canada to the P. R. China for ten years. Maggie has a B.A. degree in English language and completed a summer school jointly given by London School of Economics and Peking University on interna onal finance.

  Humberto Speziani, President, Peru Humberto Speziani is President of IFFO and Director of Tecnológica de Alimentos S.A. (TASA), the largest fishmeal and fish oil producer worldwide. He has been involved in the fishing sector for the past 45 years. Humberto is currently Chairman of the Fisheries Commi ee for ADEX, the Peruvian Exporters Associa on, Director of Sociedad Nacional de Pesquería (SNP) and was previously President of CONFIEP.

  Mark Griffin, Vice President, USA Dr. Mark Griffin is Vice President of IFFO and has served as Omega Protein’s President — Animal Nutri on Division since June 2013. He previously has served as Senior Vice President — R&D and Sales and Marke ng and as Vice President — Research and Development.
