Buddhist Art Classes in Singapore, Jan 12+13, 2016 Mudras Special Hand Gestures of Enlightenment Two Evening Art Classes at Asian Spiritual Classics In these 2 evening classes you will learn how to draw mudras - the special and graceful hand gestures of the enlightened beings- according to the Tibetan Buddhist Thangka tradition. You will learn about the many different mudras, including the mudras of the 5 Buddha Families and of Green Tara and White Tara. If there's enough time we will also color them after drawing. The classes come with a short meditation, lecture and a lot of individual guidance. Through the slideshow/talk on the subject you will learn everything about the background and meanings these mudras have in the Tibetan tradition. This workshop is suitable for everyone, including beginners with no drawing experience whatsoever. If you are new to this you can also opt for drawing the Face of the Buddha instead of mudras. Schedule: Tue Jan 12 + Wed Jan 13, 7.30-10pm Cost: Non-members pay S$110 for 2 evenings, ASC members pay S$99 for 2 evenings. If you can only attend one evening the costs are S$60 for non-members and S$54 for members. Materials: Paper will be offered to everybody for free. Please bring drawing materials: a long ruler, (mech.) pencil, eraser. If you don't have this you can borrow them during class. Colored pencils will be provided to use as well. Do not bring paints.
