Southington Elementary Schools- Start/End Times

Early Schools ~ 8:35 a.m. – 3:05 p.m. (Doors open at 8:20)

Late Schools ~ 8:55 a.m. – 3:25 p.m. (Doors open at 8:40)

School Registration ProcessThe district registration process begins with online registration!

● The online site will be open for kindergarten registration on February 24, 2020

● Go to the Southington Public Schools website at: www.southingtonschools.org.

● Click Registration under “Quick Links” or “School Registration” link under Parents/Students. Choose Kindergarten Registration 2020-21

● Open the “NEW REGISTRATION” link and begin completing the information requested. Once complete, you’ll submit the information and will be notified that your registration is not complete until you provide the district with the appropriate documentation and meet with your child’s school or the district registrar.

● All families must complete the registration process online prior to attending the kindergarten registration at your assigned school. NOTE: Families without computers will have access to a laptop at your child’s school the day of registration. The process will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

Required DocumentsBelow are the documents that are required by the district to

complete your child’s registration!

● Full size birth certificate for all students is required - we cannot accept the small wallet-size version.

● Physical performed within one year of first day of school and State of CT Health Assessment Record - “blue form”.

● Court issued guardianship/court documentation issued by the State of Connecticut for custodial agreements and in situations where the parent of the child is not the legal guardian,

Required Documents - residencyBelow are the documents that are required by the district to

complete your child’s registration!

A. Homeowners must present one of the following: a current mortgage statement/bill, a copy of the Southington home property tax statement, or the title page of the current homeowner’s insurance policy.

B. Renters must present a current rental or lease agreement, or notarized letter from landlord or owner acknowledging the parent/guardian’s and student’s residence.

C. A current utility bill (electricity, gas, or phone). If move is recent, 30 days will be provided to produce a copy of this bill.

Required Documents - residencyResidency requirements for families who are living in a home

that is rented or owned by another person:● If the student and the parent/guardian are living in a dwelling that

is rented or owned and occupied by another person, a Certificate of Residency and affidavits will be filled out by the person with whom the family and student reside. The owner of the property will also be responsible for providing the district with the homeowner/renter documentation. In these cases, the residency verification process will need to be completed at the district registrar’s office.

*A verification visit by the district Residency Officer may be required prior to the student beginning school.

• Assist parents with completing and submitting registration forms and materials.

• Access to nurse to discuss any health issues.• Access to speech-language pathologist to discuss any

concerns or issues.

Stations are designed to:

• Have an activity, snack, story time to occupy children while parent is busy.

• Include an Intake Inventory.

● Children have a 30-minute lunch period in the cafeteria.

● Applications for Free/Reduced Lunch will be available on the SPS website in July. Parents can print, complete, and bring the forms to their school prior to the start of school in August.

● In late August, all families will receive an email that contains their student’s ID number and information about how to create a student lunch account.

All Southington Schools offer a Grab-and-Go Breakfast for anyone interested. Families who qualify for Free/Reduced lunch have the option of taking part in this program.
