Catch Your ChildDoing Well

The best way to motivate a child to developgood behavior is to reinforce the goodactions we want to see. Praising positivebehavior of children tend to strengthen theirgood behavior pattern.

1. Be specific in praising your children.Don’t just say, “You were good today.” Findspecific incidents that define good behaviorlike “You played nicely with your sisterand took turns.” Defining good behaviorhelps them understand the goal.

2. Offer occasional rewards. There is adifference between reward and bribery.Reward is offered, after the good deed iscompleted while bribery occurs before theact.

3. Model a happy, healthy adult for yourchildren. Parents can go far in helping theirchildren succeed by modeling what it meansto have a fulfilling life. Ensure that youexperience both external and internalachievements like having supportiverelationships, and enjoying the journey ofyour life.

4. Boost your children’s self-esteem withopportunities to contribute. Far too manyparents are using “hand-out” parenting inwhich they do and give everything to theirchildren. When a child grows up believingthey are the center of the universe, theydevelop a false sense of confidence that canlead to future disappointments. The bestthing a parent can do is to help each childfeel worthy by giving them responsibilitiesand chores around the house.

Toast to Sir Jom onMicrosoft!!!

July 2009 marks a giant leap for the BSInformation Technology of South MansfieldCollege. Our very own Program Point Personis a Certified Microsoft Professional himself!

It is with great pride that Sir Jom now carriesthe Microsoft banner for the school. His skillsin training students on a par with the industrystandards are further strengthened by thisqualification. Sir Jom ushers now the newgeneration of South Mansfield ITprofessionals who will eventually qualify forthe same certification.

How can one become aCertified Microsoft

Professionals?

Naturally, you will have to be trained and youwill be prepared for the assessment.Assessments are in a form of writtenexaminations and practical or demonstrationtests. This way the skills are truly proven andyou immediately learn whether you performaccording to the standard. It is all abouthaving what the industry is looking for.

Training for the assessment is alreadyincluded in the program fees. Should thestudent take the Microsoft Assessment, heor she will have to undergo the screeningprocess of Microsoft. The fee for Microsoftis separate.

Upon assessment, students will immediatelybe notified if they qualify or if they needfurther training.

What is wonderful on the SMC Microsofttraining is that our trainers will not stop untilthe student qualifies. Unlike other trainingcenters, SMC provides the training as aninclusion of the four-year program.

Sir Jom is very positive on the current SMCIT students. They are already computer andinternet savvy. It is all a matter of formalizingthe skill and the school is here to make ithappen.

For inquiries on the certificate trainings beingoffered by BS IT of SMC, feel free to contactthe PR Office at 8623036 loc 108, or visit usin school.

So here is to the new breed of SMC ITgraduates! The world is truly in their hands, perhaps more aptly, in their USBs!

What do you get as a CertifiedMicrosoft Professionals?

The beauty of certification courses is that itis proof that you are able to satisfy the skillsrequired.

The more qualifications you can prove throughcertificates, the higher your possibility ofcareer growth will be. The world knowsMicrosoft, if Microsoft acknowledges you, theworld will get to know you, too.

South Mansf ield Col lege is currentlyshowcasing three Microsoft certificatetrainings in the Bachelor of Science inInformation Technology program. Every yearthe students will be trained extensively toprepare for the Microsoft Assessment.

The SES is a program to stimulate the learningcapacity of the students and start the driveto further education. And we begin thelearning process through learning about man.

Next Film

This coming July 10, the SES will featureanother film on the Medieval Age to the Ageof Enlightenment. The students will learnabout Galileo in a form beyond books. Hisconcept of the sun as the center of ouruniverse was too controversial for the peopleduring his time. With the film to be viewedthis Friday, we find that Galileo is a man oftheatre himself. There, through a differentmedia, he was able to tickle the mind of theones who dared to read his writings; all forthe sake of questioning, discovery andlearning.

College StudentsReady for Prelims
