Salt Lake Community College administers Utah’s Custom Fit Training and Short Term Intensive Training (STIT) programs. These programs receive state funds that may help pay a portion of the cost for customized employee training, or for placing employees and/or people seeking employment in scheduled non-credit classes. Our program managers work with you directly to determine how you can qualify for grant-funded training.

Custom Fit TrainingCustom Fit Training is one of Corporate Solutions most flexible customized training programs. The program is designed to stimulate economic development and facilitate the new job creation in Utah. Our goal is to help organizations grow, train and retain an efficient and productive employee base.The Custom Fit Training team uses their extensive expertise to provide companies with a variety of solutions, such as:

Short Term Intensive TrainingShort Term Intensive Training (STIT) is a program that offers training to build workforce knowledge, skill and ability. STIT is a state-funded program that provides training for employees and individuals who need to upgrade training for a better position or job. There are many types of training that span a wide range of industries. Training is usually non-credit and short term, less than one year. STIT courses may be taught at an organization’s facility or at Salt Lake Community College. Companies may qualify for STIT funds to train their employees.

In addition to skill-based training coursework, programs also include student certifications, testing, assessment and basic educational support. STIT funds may also pay a portion of these costs. Examples of training designed for corporate clients include:

Workplace Skills and AdvancementThis is a modularized, blended learning program to increase employee job performance and opportunities for advancement. Curriculum integrates basic computer, grammar, written communication, reading and math skills with learning and career planning customized for the employee’s organization. Reading, writing and math modules include pre-assessment to ensure student success. Developmental modules, including ESL, are available for students who need additional preparation.

• Employees gain awareness of the skills required to advance in their industry, assess their skill level and consider possible career pathways.

• Students develop an individual career and learning plan.

WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring “real-world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success. WorkKeys assessments measure the following foundational workplace skills:

WorkKeys three basic skills (Applied Math, Reading for Information and Locating Information) are the core assessments for the National Career Readiness Certificate/NCRC used by states nationwide. By completing these three basic skills, individuals can earn a nationally recognized certificate.Many employers require WorkKeys scores for screening and hiring purposes. Getting Started as a New LeaderHours: 5Individuals who excel within an organization are often promoted into leadership and/or management roles for the first time. Unfortunately, that stellar individual contributor isn’t magically transformed into a successful leader overnight. This half-day course arms new leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. Lean Six Sigma Green BeltHours: 24A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a change agent who leads and supports efforts to improve the effectiveness of an organization. They facilitate teams to identify and implement changes in operation aimed at reducing waste, cost, time and variation while increasing customer and client satisfaction. Lean Six Sigma Green Belts apply the tools they learn through their daily work as well as improvement projects. Class is 24 hours long and takes place on three consecutive Fridays.

Lean Six Sigma Black BeltHours: 40The Six Sigma Black Belt holder is the primary change agent for various performance improvement projects. His or her primary responsibility is to lead teams and work with Green Belts to improve organizational output and eliminate waste. Our Six Sigma Black Belt Training is a 40-hour course taught on five consecutive Fridays.

A Green Belt in either Lean or Six Sigma is a prerequisite for the Black Belt Class.

Introduction to CompositesHours: 40 The Introduction to Composite Materials certificate provides basic knowledge of materials used in the composites industry. Composite materials are used to build components and structures in industries like aerospace, boating, automotive, building trades, wind turbines and recreation vehicles. OSHA 3095: Electrical StandardsThis course is designed to provide you with an in-depth study of OSHA’s electrical standards and the hazards associated with electrical installations and equipment. The hazards of power generation, transmission and distribution systems are also covered. Emphasis is placed on electrical hazard recognition and OSHA inspection procedures.
