• Lord Stafford was so ingenious at finding money for the king, that the term “Stafford’s Fork” was coined. It referred to his mischievous ways of “feeding of the country”

• Archbishop Laud also made a bad name for himself with the people. But He angered the Puritans most.

• The Puritans attacked Churches destroying irreplaceable carvings, books, paintings, carved rails, and smashing ancient stained glass windows.

• While there he tried to force the Scots to worship the Church of England
