The Social Development Program

The Social Development Program (S.D.P.) is a discipline strategy

believing that everyone is responsible for their own actions. It creates a safe, non-threatening learning environment.

Having a clear understanding of the rules is the beginning of the program. Classroom Rules:i. Follow directionsii. Bring all materials to classiii. Be in your seat when the bell ringsiv. Use appropriate languagev. Respect the teacher’s right to teach and a

student’s right to learn.

• There are 4 levels to the Social Development Program. Although they are all common behaviors shown in the classroom, there is only one correct act of behavior that should be displayed. The 4 levels the Social Development Program include: A. AnarchyB. BullyC. ConformerD. Democracy

The 4 Levels of the Social Development Program

Level A.) Anarchy

Anarchy means without rules or laws. It is important to have rules and a

clear understanding of rules so that anarchy will not be displayed in the

classroom. Some examples of anarchy include:1.) Being

confused & not knowing what to do.

2.) A fight

3.) Argument & conflicts

Level B.) Bully

• In this Social Development Program a bully is a person who makes their own rules or tries to over rule. In this case examples of bulling could be: name calling, talking out of turn, or going against authority by not bringing your books to class.

LevelC.) Conformer

• A conformer is a person who follows someone or does what someone says just to avoid conflict. Peer pressure and influence sometimes results in the behavior of a conformer.

•Letting someone copy off of your paper just so that person won’t be mad at you could be an example of a conformer.

Level D.)

Democracy• Democracy means following the rules

because it’s the right thing to do. It is also something done to better one’s self as well as the class. This is the correct level of behavior that should be displayed in this program. Some examples of democratic behavior is raising your hand to be called on, or being in your seat when the bell rings.

Punishment!!! / Corrective Actions!!! Corrective actions are taken place when 1 of the 3 levels of

behaviors (anarchy, bully, and/ conformer)are shown in the class room.

There are 5 corrective actions to be taken place:1.) You will be given a warning and asked which level of behavior

you displayed.2.)You will receive a “Think Sheet” to explain your behavior.3.)The teacher will contact your parents and assign you

detention.4.)You will be referred to another teacher, counselor, or

administrator.5.)Logical consequences will go into affect: If a fight takes place

you will be placed in the hands of an administrator or staff of a higher power.
