... provide ADDED VALUE
Experts from fire service associations, the German VdS Schadenverhütung fire protection and safety testing centre and the German Daylight
and Smoke Protection Systems Association agree: only certified smoke outlet devices create safe conditions in the event of fire.
• They are designed as per DIN 18232-2 and tested as per EN 12101-2.
• They prevent rooms from completely filling with smoke.
• They reliably provide a smoke-free layer.
• They contain the fire incident and minimise its consequences.
+ rely on DIN 18232-2 and EN 12101-2 to provide a certified smoke outlet device.

RESCUE lives: poisonous smoke fumes extracted
PROTECT assets and property: fire service given faster, more targeted access to extinguish fire
REDUCE business risks: less risk of production downtimes and failure to deliver
PROVIDE added value: energy-efficient daylight intake and ventilation function with SHEV systems
Certified smoke ventilation is only safe and efficient if provided by natural smoke and heat exhaust systems (SHEV) which
are designed according to specifications in DIN 18232-2.
These systems use thermal lift to channel smoke, heat and poisonous fumes into the open air. A smoke-free layer forms near the floor when
fresh air flows in, meaning:
• People can quickly escape into the open air.
• Emergency services have the air that they require to extinguish fires and rescue people trapped inside.

LAMILUX solution
DIN 18234 is an all-important reference for flat roofs since the standard's scope of application has widened considerably over recent years. It has now no longer limited to purely industrial buildings. Moreover, roofs can now also be tested and classified for preventive fire protection with the aim of containing fire spread on roofs.

CI System Smoke Lift MEA MODULAR SMOKE AND HEAT VENTILATION SYSTEM
Certified safety – energy efficiency – comfort: with CI System Glass Architecture ME, we have developed a daylight system
that unites these three aspects in a single roof system. Thanks to a combination between numerous innovations, this flat
window with real glazing complies with important safety-relevant requirements:
• CI System Smoke Lift ME meets Building Materials Class A1 requirements and is thus non-flammable.
• Complies with EN 12101-2 as a smoke and heat ventilation system
German federal state building codes sometimes require translucent roofing to be made of non-flammable construction materials. CI System
Glass Architecture ME is classified as a smoke and heat ventilation system in compliance with EN 12101-2 when combined with a 24-volt
drive, for example, and provides fire protection in vulnerable areas of buildings.

CI System Smoke Lift ME DKDOUBLE THE SAFETY
CI System Double Flap ME DK combines a SHEV function (smoke extraction as per EN 12101-2), optimum daylight intake
and natural ventilation in a compact system. This soundproofed daylight element impresses due to its extremely good heat
insulation properties.
CI System Double Flap ME can be supplied in a very large format and thus feature a highly effective, aerodynamic smoke extraction surface.
This daylight system is also designed to incorporate the frequently used fair weather ventilation system. Driven by a pneumatic system or an
electrical motor (24V in compliance with EN 12101-2 or 230V), ventilation flaps can be opened up to an angle of 90°. Intelligent control of the
ventilation function enables users to adjust individual air exchange rates perfectly to their needs.

LAMILUX CI System Smoke Lift BSMOKE EXHAUST WITH OPTIMUM ENERGY EFFICIENCY
CI System Continuous Rooflight B is equipped with smoke and heat ventilation devices that fulfil all EN 12101-2 require-
ments. Single or double flaps are integrated to provide a smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system and can be activated
to provided normal ventilation or fair weather ventilation.
Energy efficiency: the blower door test demonstrates the optimum airtightness in the continuous rooflight system when flaps are closed.
Safety and stability: open SHEV flaps offer very strong resistance to wind loads, even when they feature large dimensions. This is guaranteed
by spring-loaded, multiple-joint traverses connected directly to the flap structure.

Many flap combinations for market-leading
smoke and heat exhaust units
Dimensions never seen before can be achieved in SHEV systems thanks to a new technology. The CI System Smoke Lift B can be integrated
into continuous rooflight structures as a single or double flap in numerous potential combinations to create optimum, building-specific smoke
extraction surfaces. In the event of a fire, flaps are quickly opened by thermal release, thermal and CO2 remote release or electric remote
release. The SHEV flap systems can also be used for ventilation and activated electrically/pneumatically.

Smoke removal openings for stairwaysNON-SYSTEM CONNECTED – ELECTRIC
Many European countries have special regulations for stairways. In most cases, smoke must be removed from stairways
using electrically controlled, mains-independent systems. That is why LAMILUX supplies smoke removal openings special-
ly designed for stairways, although they may also be fitted in any type of building or structure.
Our standard set comprises:
• 1 electric motor with a 500 mm stroke, 24 V, disconnection under load
• 1 control unit for a maximum of two motors with control connectors for SHEVS
and ventilation buttons, and various peripherals such as smoke alarms,
thermal alarms or wind and rain sensors
• 2 SHEV control switches with visual display, surface mounted
• 1 flush-mounted fan button for 55 mm switch box
• Single item deliveries and upgrades are possible

Renovation of SHEV systems
A SINGLE PARTNER FOR MANY THINGS INSTEAD OF MANY PARTNERS
When smoke and heat exhaust systems start to age, customer advisory services and a professional renovation are often not
only expensive, but also involve a great deal of work. Not if you work with LAMILUX, however.
Customer advisory services, tailored solutions, including control technology, and all work involved in the upgrade from a single source: On
request, LAMILUX will handle the entire renovation package for you. We start with an initial survey to establish what the existing system
contains, if the existing conditions comply with new statutory regulations and what the most cost-effective solution would be. We then draw
up a design concept, arrange demolition and waste disposal, implement safety measures to protect your employees and assets, and install
the system in close cooperation with established partners in the roof building sector. Our specialists are responsible for installing the complex
control technology.

SHEV systems must workFAILING TO MAINTAIN MAKES YOU LIABLE
Smoke and heat ventilation system owners are required by law to perform all necessary measures to ensure that people are
protected against danger in the event of a fire. If you do not maintain your SHEV system, you may be in breach of building
safety regulations, DIN 18232, state directives and other directly or indirectly applicable laws.
If you maintain your SHEV system on a regular basis, you will not only minimise the risk of damage and injury considerably, but also liability
risk.
Inadequate maintenance will also make you liable.
According to VdS guidelines, servicing can only be carried out by companies which can provide a promise from the SHEV system installer
to deliver original replacement parts.

You are involved in the construction of a new building or renovation of an old one and wish to make things safer with preventive fire protection
based on SHEV systems. We will gladly provide you with a consultation related to your project. We will assist you with project-specific planning
and correct SHEV system dimensioning and find tailor-made, building-specific solutions together with you.
The sheer numbers of rules, regulations and directives in preventive fire protection for buildings is daunting, especially where they relate to
smoke and heat ventilation. But what help do industrial standards, industrial guidelines or building codes offer with planning and installing
SHEV systems? What character does a statutory regulation have? What is an interpretable provision or simply a flexible guideline?
Our training programme will provide you with a way through the maze of regulations and their interpretation. This programme is aimed at our
customers and building services planners, on the one hand, and public agencies and fire services on the other.

The technical data printed in this brochure was accurate when this brochure went to press and is subject to change without notice. Our technical specifications are based on calculations and supplier information or have been determined by independent testing authorities within the scope of applicable standards. Thermal transmission coefficients for our composite glazing were calculated using the finite element method with reference values as per DIN EN 673 for insulated glass. Based on empirical values and specific characteristics of the composites, a temperature vector of 15 K was defined as the vector between the outer surfaces of the material. Functional values refer to test specimens and the dimensions used in testing only. We cannot provide any further guarantees of technical values. This particularly applies to changes in installation locations or if dimensions are re-measured on site.
