Lesson:The Weather

Objectives:1. Describe the appearance of clouds2. Draw the different types of clouds seen in the sky3. Participate in group activity

Reference:K to 12 Learners Material pp. 155-156K to 12 Teachers Guide pp. 164-167

Materials:weather watcher card, coloring markers, crayons, pens, KWL Chart

Activities:PrimingPuzzle Words Post the word puzzle on the board. Ask the pupils to encircle the words in the puzzle. Ask them to write it on the board. ( thunder, lightning, wind, clouds, rain, weather )

Using the word puzzle, ask your pupils to list in column one all words that are familiar to them. In column two, ask them to write the words that are not familiar to them. Under the column with unfamiliar words, let them write what they want to know about it.The KWL Chart

Activity Activity Sheet 1: The Weather Watcher

Analysis After the activity, ask your pupils what they notice about the things in the sky and the clouds with the following questions;1. Is the sky clear? cloudy?2. Can you see clouds? How does it appear?3. Is the sun shining bright? Is the sun hiding?4. Is the rain falling?5. Is the wind blowing?

(The description may just be shapes like short clouds, puffy clouds, a cloud that looks like a curly hair, thread-like clouds)

Abstraction Discuss further the descriptions made by the pupils. Ask your pupils to exchange LMs to see the drawing of other pupils. Ask them to describe the clouds in the drawing. You may also ask the following questions after looking at their drawings.1. What is the weather today?2. What is the shape of the cloud?3. What is the color of the cloud?

Application1. It was 3 oclock in the afternoon, Mia noticed that the sky is covered with thick dark clouds. She saw lightning from afar. Then she hurriedly removed the clothes she put in the clothesline. Why did Mia do it?2. The sky is blue and there are many white clouds. The clouds look like group of cotton balls. What type of weather is being described?

Direction:Activity Sheet 1: The Weather Watcher

1. Look around you and at the sky above. Observe the days weather. Write the following in your notebook. a. Is it sunny? b. Is it rainy? c. Is it windy? d. Is it stormy?

2. Observe the sky for five minutes. CAUTION: DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN. THE SUNS RAYS CAN HARM YOUR EYES.

3. Draw some of the objects that you see in the sky. Use coloring pencils or pens for your drawing. Do this in your notebook.

4. Complete the table below. Do this in your notebook.

5. Describe the clouds based on what you wrote on the table. Write your answer in your notebook.
