Originally made as a communication program

Many ways to communicate through Skype:

Instant message conversation, Video call. Easy to use in the classroom.

Page 4: Skype!

Skype does not need to be bought but can easily be installed on www.skype.com and the minimum requirements are:

PC running Windows 2000, XP or Vista. (Windows 2000 users require DirectX 9.0 for video calls).

Internet connection – broadband is best (GPRS is not supported for voice calls).

Speakers and microphone – built-in or separate. For voice and video calls we recommend a

computer with at least a 1GHz processor, 256 MB RAM and of course a webcam.

For High Quality Video calls you will need a high quality video webcam and software, a dual-core processor computer and a fast broadband connection (384 kbps).

It creates an easier way to communicate between peers and teachers.

An easy way to ask teachers questions with out stressing about it.

An easy way to share ideas. It lets the teacher avoid excuses like ‘I didn’t

know’ It is a more appealing way for the students , and

their peers to communicate. Allows students in language classes to

communicate with other students all around the world

Not every class has an accessible computer.

Not very practical because you have to be online so that you can be spoken to.

Also unpractical because you must add everyone you want to talk to.

Must install at home if you want to use at home.

Cannot use microphones and webcams in all classes.

Page 16: Skype!

I think that the school should give this product a shot since it is free!

Although it is unpractical in some ways, it also has its great advantages.

But an alternative communicative program is Ning which is much more practical.
