Introduction

• Skype is for doing things together, whenever you’re apart.• It used to be that when traveling internationally meant

difficulty keeping in touch. When it was possible, it cost an arm and a leg, making contact difficult.

• Skype is a service for its users to communicate with each around the world over the internet and in many cases for free!

• Founded by Janus Friis from Denmark and Niklas Zennström from Sweden (2003)

• The first public beta version was released on 29 August 2003• On 12 September 2007, eBay Inc. agreed to acquire

Luxembourg-based Skype Technologies SA for US$2.5 billion• On 1 September 2009, it was announced that eBay was selling

65% of Skype for US$1.9 billion• On 10 May 2011, Microsoft Corporation acquired Skype

Communications for US$8.5 billion• Microsoft began this transition on 8 April 2013, and

completed the move by 30 April

invented by teachers, played by two classrooms on Skype. The aim of the game is to guess the location of the other classroom by asking questions with each other.

It's suitable for all age groups and can be used to teach subjects like geography, history, languages, mathematics and science.

• Skype has changed the way we connect with others not only on a national level, but on an international level as well. This VoIP service has attained much success over the past few years and continues to evolve at a rapid rate. It will continue to gain more and more followers due to its benefits such as being compatible with Mac and PC, being almost completely free, and is now being extremely portable. However, this program has run into some obstacles socially, legally and ethically. In short,“Wherever you are, wherever they are – Skype keeps you together.”
