ETHICAL STANDARDS

Since constructed response items will be scored daily and teachers will see the constructed response items before all students take the exams, teachers will be reminded that information related to the Constructed Response questions cannot be discussed with other classes.

To eliminate the need for Proctors, we will utilize a department trade-off model.

Teachers will pick up testing materials from the office conference room on the date of the test.

When the testing session is complete, teachers will return test materials to the conference room.

Table tents will be placed on each table to designate where scoring will occur for each course.

Courses within each content area will be grouped together.

Folders will be located on each table. Contents included within this folder will include:

Best practices for scoring student work

Ensure consistency of scores based on state rubrics Maintain “blindness”Graders will complete a score card for each paper. He/she will assign a number for each response based on the rubric(s). A class roster will be included with materials for the recorder.

How will we score Constructed Response Items?

The recorder will maintain the roster with both the student name & NC WISE Number Graders will put the number they would assign to each constructed response with their initials, NC WISE number and subject on the cardstock.

Once they are finished with this for each student, they will pass this card to the recorder. The recorder will create a master list with the number for each question . He/she will also be responsible for bubbling the numbers on the answer sheet.

How will we score Constructed Response Items?

The recorder will finish creating a master list with the scores for each constructed response from each teacher.

Scoring of Common Exams Scores from Constructed Response items will then

be transferred to student’s answer documents. Graders will double check that all scores recorded

on the answer sheet are correct. Student answer documents will then be scanned at

Central Services. Scores will be returned to teachers for student

grade calculations for high school.
