Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation TrustI have responsibility for the development of leadership and management skills within the workforce to meet the key organisation development and quality improvement needs of the Trust. I act as a Trust specialist and expert on all aspects of organisation development, leadership and management, facilitation and cultural change management to support the staff, teams and services across the Trust.

Nurse Trainer (Project lead)In 2013 the General Medical Council of the UK published a policy that called for all Deaneries (bodies responsible for the training and development of Doctors from medical school to appointment to consultant roles) across the country to develop a programme of recognition and accreditation of those doctors involved in the supervision, teaching and training of junior doctors. My role within the TEWV NHS trust was to project manage this programme across the Trust. I produced a programme that addressed the training needs of consultant grade Doctors involved in supervision and training within the project timescale and parameters. In order to support this initiative I developed and delivered a ‘toolbox ‘of activities, teaching sessions and learning events that enhanced and developed the teaching activities of the consultant grade doctors.In addition to this role I carried out formative assessment of practice and teaching with junior doctors and undergraduate medical students as well as providing pastoral support for the students. This role was time limited on a short term contract basis.

Education and Training manager Danshell.Danshell is a large UK based company that provides a range of services from care homes and hospitals for People with a learning Disability, Children and adolescent mental health

services, Acquired brain injury units and services for older people. The company employs in excess of 2000 staff and has a presence throughout the United Kingdom.My role was to oversee the training and development portfolio for the entire staff group with full budgetary responsibility for this.The training was delivered through a mix of in-house trainers and external providers; part of my role was to negotiate with these providers to ensure fitness for purpose as well as value for money.An enormous range of training was provided from health and safety and food handling for ancillary staff to clinical skills and updates for nursing staff working across all specialities.My post with Danshell was a time limited 6 month contract and upon my leaving at the end of the year left a robust and comprehensive portfolio of training and development in place.

Previous role with ICML (Interhealth Canada Dubai)I was appointed to the post of education manager at the Rashid hospital on the 19th of

February 2013. The hospital is managed by the Dubai Health Authority and is a very busy

public hospital for Dubai and the northern Emirates.

Whilst I was in post for only 4 months I made a significant contribution to the educational

processes within the hospital as follows:

Designed and delivered a mentorship programme for nursing staff take on this role in the

clinical environment and supporting junior and new staff.

Designed and delivered a programme of teacher training for the 12 education staff for whom

I was managerially responsible.

Implemented a programme of clinical supervision for the education staff with a rollout to the

entire hospital nursing staff.

A key contributor to the hospital strategic plan for 2013 with significant progress made

towards meeting these.

Managerial and pastoral support to the education team.

Supervising several projects including research interests.

Developing and investigating the implementation of a programme of post qualifying

education within the higher education system both in Dubai and abroad.

Developed and rolling out an educational needs analysis tool for nursing units within the

hospital

Membership and leadership of senior management teams and forums

I am experienced and skilled at curriculum design and delivery to a wide range of learners and clients.I am an excellent facilitator who is able to engage with people and teams from a wide range of backgrounds and to encourage and support learning and dvelopment in a meaningful way.I am able to work with colleagues and staff from a variety of backgrounds and professions to identify training and development needs and I have the skills and experience to use this information to produce robust and relevant training and development programmes. I have worked with a wide variety of training providers and am able to negotiate with such providers to ensure high quality and value for money services.I am trained and experienced in the delivery of the 7 habits and associated activities (Covey), I am a coach registered in the NHS Trust and I have experience and skills in delivering team performance diagnostics as well as 360 feedback tools.My experience in community nursing was underpinned by client and community education and entailed delivering complex information in an accessible manner.I am hard working and committed to my work in education and development and believe that these are the foundation of any successful and effective organisation.
